For those of us running 12" shocks and shock relocate in the rear have a limited amount of bump travel. Riding the bumps while loaded down going for long periods of time also puts stress on the frame especially if you've got a plate rear bumper with fuel, water and spare hanging off the back. I'll be going hydros here pretty soon.

Now, when someone says "suck a bag of dicks" do they mean like suck the actual bag? Or suck each one individually? And do you have to make them finish?

    Arched dick?

    :bananadance:

My Dakars were still arched with the 4wc and at 6700 lbs. Didn't go flat until the shackle flip was installed. You probably should be fine, unless you want to raise the rear... for dirty fives ;)

After the shack reflip, And when Peter is available, the mounts will be reclocked. I didn't want to limit downtravel and assumed the Alcans would have way more droop than Dakars. When I threw on the Alcans, there was still 1-1/2" of downtravel in the shock left. Going to reclock close to maximum droop and take the 1" bump spacers out. Should work beautifully. At full stuff, there's still about 3/4 - 1" of compression left. That "cushion" will be the same after re clocking, but 1" more up travel. I'd obviously rather top it out than bottom it out. All slow speed shit anyways.

Thats what I thought I had. Slid the little rubber doohickeys on the shock all the way up before we ran the trail. Checked later on and they were all the way at the bottom.

The shock relocation kit was installed before I had my current leaf pack, so I guessed at the numbers. When the new leaf pack went on...

The 12" travel shock was only extended about 10.5". So the spring is the limiting factor, not the shock.

    IMG_5655.jpg

Then I went to the mall.

    IMG_5672.jpg

And the shock was about 1.25" from bottoming out. Bump was 1" from the frame and shock had 2.25" of compression left.

    IMG_5666.jpg

I don't know how much the Superbumps squish, so I was conservative and put a 1.5" spacer under the bump. Sorry, I said 1" on my last post.

    IMG_5692.jpg

So reclocking, or lowering the lower shock mounts 1.25" - 1.5" will give me the same downtravel (since the spring is the limiting factor), and I can remove the spacer and get more up travel.

There are more factors to consider, but I'm not going to deal with them. Worst case scenario, I'll have to add a 1/4 or 1/2" spacer under the bump. I'm not worried about topping out my shocks in the whoops or going airborne constantly.

The correct way to do all this is removing all but the top leaf, putting a block under that leaf that is the same thickness as the removed leafs, and cycling the whole thing. Check @jberry813 's build for all that stuff. There is a 98% chance that I'm not going to do that.

Mine were 1/4" from the bottom. Are you going to space the bumps or reclock?

If I do anything I'll probably reclock (sorry Peter). But probably won't do that till I pull the bed to box the frame. Do it all at one time.
