It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
psst...dont tell anyone, but sometimes i reuse my gaskets.

Bike shop reused this one and lathered black RTV EVERYWHERE. Took an hour and a half to remove all the pieces of gasket and rtv when I just ripped it out.

Gaskets are cheap. Fuck that nonsense

i reuse mine all the time. as long as they dont get overtorqued (causes stretching) and they dont rip there isnt any reason to replace

Can't stand that stuff. I'd rather wait for a gasket than get it done faster.

Ok I got a question on the gasket issue.
A buddy purchased a Honda rebel for his wife to learn how to ride on. The shifter would not return to the nautal pose after shifting. Needed to return it manually to ride it. So last weekend I took of right side cover, looked it over everything seemed to work flawlessly. Put cover back on,tighten up,No return to natural pose.figure out if I lose none of the side cover bolts a half a turn everything works.
Here is the question do you think the problem is not having a gasket in there and using permatex is the issue?

I doubt some of it flaked off and caused something like that. But i always use oem gaskets for everything. Copper gasket spray or a thin layer of RTV rubbed on with my finger on one or both sides of the gasket. Thats if i even add anything. Usualy an oem gasket is the best seal. But not always.

That sounds like a shift fork or spring or something has come apart

Ok, I miss my DRZ. Its about time to get another bike. This time though I want something a little more street friendly, probably won't ride it off road at all. My roommate has a 15' CB500F, its cool but kinda boring, just isn't as fun as my DRZ was. I want something faster than the DRZ and fuel injected. Preferably under $7k I work someplace I can get a really good rate financing so I think I'm going to buy new. Looking for something to commute on and enjoy riding. What would you all suggest?

I enjoyed the hell out of it, just don't want a carb...

Looking at Suzuki V-Strom 650 and SV650 currently. I'm thinking I want a smaller touring style bike.
