It's funny, I have silver and am always amazed when I see another one. Silver fairly rare here. I have been seeing more black lately after never seeing one for the longest time.

Colors aside... What is the compelling reason to wait to buy the 18's when they come out? It seems they've fixed the diff problems, and dealers are selling around invoice right now. I suspect the 18s will be at a premium for at least a few months. I know TSS is coming but I don't really care about that. Is that it?

That is good. You can have the illusion of choice, but the choices are so stacked that a large majority of people on the fence go the way they want. I'll have to remember that strategy.

Appears to be power rear tailgate lock (factory not aftermarket) and maybe LED tails.

The colour was on the FJ Cruiser. All of the colours they used were non metallic. In order to make touching up the paint easier.

I believe they had a couple metallic colors on the FJ but there were not too many.

I had a black fj. And it was definitely metallic. You just had to look closely at it. I actually wished they would update/modernize it and sell it again. I will have to settle for a 2018 dcsb cement taco off-road with tech and leather . Did anyone notice some of the wheel upgrades on those files said upgrade rim and disc.... what does disc mean? Like rear disc????

Look at pg42. Spec 010f and 010g . It's like the fourth spec from the top.
It could also be different discs at the front , Because we need different ones at the front. No need to look at the back they are already dis....ohh crap! Lol

My biggest complaint about my wife's 4Runner and the 17 Taco is the lighting. I want HIDs or LED headlights on a brand new $30-40k+ vehicle! I should not have to drop another $150 on an HID conversion kit.
Rear discs, sure I'll take those too.

If they don't do LED or HID headlights, I may just buy a 17 vs 18.

Toyota is the only company, whether japanese, korean, german or anything else, that has the potential to challenge the big 3 US auto makers with body-on-frame SUVs and Trucks.

We all know the market is trending more towards these cars, but they don't seem to want to add the necessary cool factor (performance and technology) into their cars.

Ford just increased power and fuel economy for the whole F-series line for 2018.

Why doesn't Toyota make the necessary investments? They are the largest auto manufacturer in the world.

Is it that hard to drop the IS turbo motor in the Tacoma? Or tune it existing engine to match the 300hp Camry variant?

I suspect there is a huge disconnect between the bosses in Japan and local leadership in the US. They are the only non-US company that has a trusted name and large fanbase for large SUVs and trucks.

This is the perfect opportunity for Nissan to take Toyota's position in this very important and fast growing market.

Toyota is in their happy place. They build ultra reliable (3rd gen aside) long lasting vehicles. It might bite them in the long run but their brand all revolves around reliably. New engines, technology, etc all reduce reliability.

Personally, I hope we see amazing things from Nissan and Ford in the midsize market. I think there has been a shift in the midsize market that these companies will start to notice.

The old guard of truck owners is getting replaced by owners who want technology, have higher expectations of what even a truck should feel like. The fit and finish will improve as will road noise, rattles, etc. Gone are the days of "just give me a hand crank window I don't need those new fangled electric windows".

There is no reason the upper trim level of these trucks shouldn't have the same creature comforts features as their Corollas. I'm hoping that changes.
