No local yard has what I'm looking for. Online doesn't offer much info as in thickness or reviews.

Can anyone recommend a local place in the Fl. area or online? I really don't want to get it at a Toyota dealer.

I do check them out also. I even reached out to rancho toyota truck parts and they wouldn't ship one to me.

I would buy one online, but I hear and see complaints on issues with the thickness on the metal. So I was looking for something close to OEM, but with a cheaper price. ha

I bought a $60 one from Amazon. Definitely not oem quality but I think you'd have to be pretty rough on it still to beat it up. It's good enough for what I use my truck for and in way better condition than my old one

I think shipping might be a tad expensive.

Then I guess you just get the sheet metal and have to install all your hardware .

I have been wanting to build one just to many other more important projects

One thing with those is that you want to strip it and paint it with epoxy primer to seal it in. The primer they use is garbage.

There's a lot of miles between Key West and Pensacola.

Can you narrow down the 'local place' a little bit?

Have you posted in the WTB and/or regional forums?

Do yourself a favor and stay away from the cheapie rockauto/Amazon parts. I have a cheapo one and it bent first use while trying to load my motocycle in the bed. Ended up having to buy the Headstrong reinforcement plate = overall more than a factory replacement
