My Tacoma fits in the garage. I had an F 150 it wouldn't fit in the garage. I had a Viper truck. It wouldn't fit in the garage. I had a Tundra it wouldn't fit in the garage. My Tacoma fits just fine. It's a 2013. It's paid off. Being able to park in the garage will add years to its lifespan. Plus, I plan to drive it until around 2023

I've loved my Toyota trucks, but had to ditch my Tacoma for an F250 Super Crew when kid # 4 arrived. Can't fit six in a Taco no matter how hard you try. The Tundra just didn't check off the boxes for me (namely no 6' + bed in a double cab). If they ever made a DCLB tundra that didn't look like ass and got better fuel economy than the V10 in my Ford, I'd jump back to Toyota in a heartbeat.

The lumbering beast of the F250 is nowhere near as nimble on and off-road as the Tacoma and it has the turning radius of the Bismarck. My Tacoma had 5100's and lift springs and it road about the same stiffness as the Ford does now with stock springs and 4600's. The commanding, high perch seating position in the F250 is glorious and gives much better overall visibility than the Tacoma. The V10 gets between 11 and 13 mpg and makes nearly 100 more HP and 150 ft/lbs more torque than the 1GR. It's no rocket ship by any means but on paper it's about a full second faster 0 - 60. Plus, the sound of the V10 opened up with headers and a free-flow Y-pipe beats any exhaust system on the Taco.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not bashing the Tacoma by any means. I'd still be driving it if we hadn't been blessed with a 6 person family.

Yeah, that's only as accurate as the owners care for said vehicle. I know this is a Tacoma site, but not everything that isn't sporting a toyota badge is some turd that falls apart after a couple of years. I take care of my trucks, and I've had my 97 z71 since it was new. In fact I ordered it. It's still nice and tight and the 350 vortec runs like a top and pulls like a muscle car. Now, it doesn't have 200k, more like 130k or so, but I have no reason to believe it won't make it there. And, it's been lifted since 99. The only thing on it that looks somewhat crappy, is the headliner. It's not hanging down anywhere, but I think 20 years of Texas heat has finally taken a toll on the fabric. I just picked up some new stuff the other day to redo it. People try to buy the truck from me all the time. I just exchanged a battery in it a while back and the guy selling me the new batt kept telling me his brother in Ohio would give me top dollar for it. 89 K5 has well over 200K and still going strong on it's original engine as well. Every single function on it works as well. Now, on that I have replaced a window motor and whatnot but but after 28 years, that comes with any vehicle. Sadly, the clear coat is getting a little fubar on the hood and roof, but again, Texas heat is a killer. So, yeah, in the hands of someone else, both of these trucks could be in the crusher already. But in the right hands they're perfectly capable of many years of service. My laptop is pretty new, so I don't have a lot of pics on it. So, although I don't have a pic of my 97, you can see that the 89 K5 is far from falling apart and ready for the scrap pile. I've seen plenty of toyotas with far less years that are much worse shape. I had an 82 toyota 4x4 that I sold a while back that was also in super clean shape.. and sold it for 8,000 to thin my herd a little. But, I love my taco, it's a great little truck, but I also love my others. Sort of like kids, they all have their own personalities and differences but they all have a purpose for me.

I drove a 2017 Dodge Laramie Crew Cab with a Hemi for 1 month while my truck was in the shop.

The power was nice and so was the extra space in the cab. But that was only on long open road drives. In the city it was like driving a school bus..crappy gas mileage and no place to park.

After a month I was so glad to get my Tacoma back. This is my 3rd Taco..so yes may I have another.

The C/K body style hands down is my favorite design on a truck. I love the looks of the new Sierra but just don't know if I trust the reliability of it.

I was contemplating looking at the 3rd gens and letting my son have my 2nd gen. I just can't get there with the engine and transmission they put in the 3rd gen. If it still had the 4.0L I would purchase a 3rd gen.

    Thank you

Whenever I thinking of a f350 or f450 dually I am often told unless I am towing something the ride will be harsh

Now neither of my Tacomas are like my LS600HL and I don't expect them to be

In daily city driving how would you compare the tacoma to your 250?

I am considering the tundra double cab since it sits 6 and I can get it in 6 or 8 feet bed

Actual driving is the same if not better. More torque off the line, incredible visibility including the factory tow mirrors with large blind spot mirrors. Parking is a different story. I always park out in the furthest reaches of parking lots anyway, but now it's a necessity. I also don't venture into a drive thru until I've done a scouting lap around the restaurant to judge if I can actually fit through some of the turns.

Forget about a dually unless you tow constantly. That was one of my main factors in NOT getting a 350, I just didn't need the dually or the extra capacity. I don't tow right now but plan to get a tractor in the future, plus I haul lots of firewood. That's the big difference: I can load up 1,200 pounds of oak in the Ford and barely notice it back there. Then I come on here and see threads with people worrying about upgrading their suspension to deal with a 200 pound camper shell.

My gen 2 is ok in every sense, but I liked my gen 1 better.. fit me better, more visibility, easier to maneuver around tight construction sites, assholes that park 1 inch away, logging roads, creek beds, etc. Just couldn't keep drunks from plowing into it.

My truck is still just as capable, and used as a truck more than half of the ones in my town. I guess in a perfect world Id have both fullsize and compact. I just use my bed a lot and its so small. Even a LB wouldnt help, needs to be wider too. I find myself borrowing my bosses trailer more than I ever did with my old truck.

This x1000. I love the looks of a dually. If I didn't live in town in a subdivision, I'd have one.

I bought my '09 new in Oct. '08 and have really enjoyed it. I am a big and tall dude and the legroom in the Access is wonderful. The truck just seems to fit me like a glove and it has become my favorite vehicle of all time (so far). It is low mileage at 45k and is still like new. Unfortunately I am high mileage at 67 so, I may never need another truck. I occasionally think about a 3rd gen Taco but I am afraid I won't like it as much as the one I have. Here is my Belle, as in Taco Bell. :)IMG_3012.jpg

I don't think I'll sell my tacoma until absolutely necessary, as in it's not worth fixing to keep it. One of the Toyota trucks I sold was a 93 pickup SR5 4WD. I've always regretted selling that truck. I would feel the same way if I got rid of this truck. I'll just keep this one and buy another fun car.
