Lots of plate spinning for RPM: Smithfield contract is up. Ford contract is up. Almirola's contract is up. Smithfield wants to reduce their sponsorship dollars. Petty needs them. Petty wants Bubba Wallace in a car. RPM is low in pecking order with Ford. They're a Roush satellite team, putting them on par with Front Row Motorsports- just above back-marker Go Fas Racing. I've mentioned a possible alliance with Childress. This article, while speculation, mentions a possible move to Chevy with Bubba in the 43. I'm sure he'd drive for less $ than Almirola's contract.

Maybe if Smithfield didn't buy so much commercial time they could sponsor a team more

 

Stumbled into NASCAR Reddit and was tempted to sign up and set some folks straight, but i don't have time for all that. Nice to see younger folks passionate about modern NASCAR, but they're missing a whole bunch of context and googling skills.

Nah dude. Bubba is way more marketable, and he's got fire in his belly. I just wish they'd stick with Ford.

 

Bubba didn't show success in the Xfinity series when he was there, it's not his time, YET.

 

Neither did Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon. In these cases, It's more about the CC pairing and not just the driver. I don't think RPM can pay for a good CC, but there could be some magic. I don't think the RCR alliance will provide enough engineering support, but clearly RFR wasn't providing much either.

 

Rousch and RCR are bottom of Barrell for their manufacturer, so RPM really isn't gaining anything.

Man. So much silly season news this week I can't even stay on top of it all.

GMS NOT going full-time Cup racing, not aligning with HMS. GMS probably only doing plate races in '18 with Spencer Gallagher. Kahne probably going to #95 with HMS affiliation. McDowell to #34. Cassill out of a ride. Menards sponsoring Blaney in the #12 for 14 races, sponsoring #21 Paul Menard in others. Motorcraft sponsoring Menard in 12 or 14 races. RCR alliance with Petty, prepping the 43 cars at their shop as Petty gives up lease on their current digs (old Yates shop). Wallace to the 43? Elliott switching to #9, Byron to the #24. No more #5. No deal on Busch #41 yet. No word on Danica #10 situation. Kenseth still in rumor mill. No word on #77. Kenseth & Kahne also in rumor mill there too. Buescher now long-term with #37 rather than moving to Roush.

Really wanted to go to crisp Motorsports park for the late model race tommorow but work will kill that.
