A lot of people really dig it. I tried to let it grow on me and it never did. Next time you're at a bar, it's definitely worth trying a shot!

It's an apartment for now. Partly furnished. And we've bought some kitchen wares to to replace all we lost.

Debris removal starts early September on the old site. Waiting to see what the rainy season brings before we start refinishing the homesite.

Sorry to hear about your home. I can't imagine what that might be like. But for whatever it's worth, it sounds like you guys are rolling with it really well. Best of luck!

Corn/barley/rye mash fermented with bread yeast. Cold crash after fermenting, then onto a PID temp controled hotplate, recirculating cold water with a fountain pump in an igloo cooler. Double distilled. Next batch is going to be elderberry infused.

    Nice. Why bread yeast?

I really want to try distilling.

Bread yeast is cheap and fast and not temp sensitive. It doesnt really matter how you get from sugar to alcohol+CO2. I brew beer too, that's where yeast makes a big difference.

Just shove a copper crackhead Brillo pad in there and you won't have to distill twice. Acts like a refractor.

How alcohol tolerant is it? Seems like a turbo yeast with super high tolerance would be good too?

I've heard of mead being made with bread yeast though so it must be pretty good.

    Me too!

One of the smoothest scotches I've ever tasted. Highly recommended.

Don't know. I make real mashes out of grain so I don't end up with gravities higher than about 1.090. I've used the fancy "turbo" yeast, and I couldn't tell any difference in the end product.

Going to agree with this too. I tell the husband all the time his scotch tastes like dirt. I can't stand the taste. Then we both tried auchentoshan. I like the Three Wood (for a scotch). I still prefer bourbon but I will partake on occasion
