If you haven't figured it out don't just randomly start tapping wires to power.. There's a bit of sarcasm intended.

That's the one I was using. I'll see if I can get a replacement from ARB, unless someone around here has one they didn't use, and follow which ones you tapped.

If you run your own lead straight to the battery you need to fuse it, I threw in a 5 since that was the smallest I had on hand.

The compressor power has a built in fuse in the harness.

Dash lights you can tap off a number of wires all depends on where you mount the switch.

    itll get installed.

Took me 3 years to install a molle panel behind the back seat, but I eventually installed it.

Itll get done, along with all the other dozens of un-installed boxes with mods in the garage

Finally got mine mounted using the Slee bracket. I wasn't going to need the switch in cab so I fabbed a bracket with a project box and mounted it under the hood. Good feeling when you hit the switch and sparks don't fly.

How many Viair models are there and which one is the best. These sound like the best bang for the buck.

Long thread. I'll be doing something for oba soon but these are a few thoughts that flickered by while I was reading.
I'm a carpenter not a mechanic and I have too much respect for the dude to impinge on his territory by mounting it in an already overcrowded and overheated engine bay so it's going to be mounted elsewhere. Leave unto Ceasar...
The "air tools" I might run would be low cfm nailers and such, I already have plenty of 18v cordless tools so I don't need a high volume 100% duty pump.
The main use is for the air bags which I will want to monitor while driving with a guage(s) and probably analog regulator mounted in the dash.
For those two(neither of which demands hphv) I want to have a smallish tank for reserve air and an inexpensive modest pump, possibly mf1050.
The truck is a 2wd mall certified DD so I won't be airing up air lockers or 33's but only the occasional mtb and hopefully much less occasional low or spare.
I don't plant on hopping around like a jumping bean so it will likely have a 70-100 or 90-115 pressure switch and won't be hard lining anything, just braided leader and possibly additional heat sinking/surface area for the head since I won't be able to throw on a wet towel.
Space is at a premium since I carry a lot of tools(hence the need for the bags) so it will probably end up in a location that isn't readily accessible but still accessible at need.
Vehicle corners are out such as behind the tail light as are bumper mounted couplers, they're called bumpers for a reason, as is any location close to the tail gate which is reserved for accessing things I frequently access. The current options are in the under seat storage bin behind the driver, inside the bed wall forward of the wheel well, and inside the bed forward of the wheel well.
Inside the bed wall conserves the most space and is less exposed than a corner but not greatly so, I've seen plenty of side-swipes munch this area without totaling the truck.
Inside the cab in the storage bin shortens the power runs and possibly also the tank-regulator line but might have other problems I haven't sussed yet besides noise.
My bed set up has a removable ~25/75 plywood platform split lengthwise that has slots in the dividing support wall for various length levels, Dewalt folding 6' saw stand on the drivers side, and a pulley mounted drawer I can haul up against the front wall(heavy) and shove saw horses behind(light). It's removable since I sometimes use one or the other piece of ply as an out feed for the table saw. It's not pretty but it works. This leaves access to the rear cubbies(no power inverter) but the areas in front of the wheel wells and below the ply are unused save when I empty the truck for bulk hauling. I could cut through the comp bed there to access the bed wall void or simply box one in there inside the bed(remember it doesn't have to run for long periods).

Hey all so I'm getting ready to order the single heavy duty ARB compressor and I'm wondering if an air pig(air tank) is necessary. Primarily I'll be using it to inflate the tires after wheeling but will also run at least a rear locker as well but that's a little ways away yet.
