It was so long ago when I painted mine, I never got any pics. But the PO plasti-dipped it so I took it off and then painted it. Looked loads better

I tried the plastidip thing as well before I painted them. It peeled just while i was putting them back on. I peeled it off and painted before I even put the bumper back on.

Hi, all. Anyone know where I can get new stock fender flares for my 2000 Taco? It's that black over the wheel wells-- I think they're called fender flares. The ones I'm finding are glossy and I'm looking for flat/matte finish. Thx.

What's wrong with the ones you have? Are they just old and faded? cuz you can just clean them up or repaint them.

Old and faded, yes. A little scratched up too. Though, I didn't think of removing them and hitting them with some flat black paint-- would that just be spray paint? I would want them to look as new as possible.

I hit them with magic eraser, which is similar to wet-sanding with a high grit and that cleaned them up pretty well.

As far as painting them, you can paint them with whatever. You could even hit them with bedliner.

They are not plastic like the 01-04 flares. They are actually fiberglass. I pulled mine, removed the original rubber gasket, sanded and painted with rustoleum truck bed, and then installed new gaskets. https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/tiffany-the-taco.374490/page-2#post-12397467

Ok guys, I need your help again. Just did the deckplate mod and everything went well. I've got two issues now.
1: Do I have a low fuel light? I have the tach and speedo cluster. I wanna get as many miles out of my tank as I can, but don't want to run out of fuel testing it.
2: I have some kind of high pitched squeak coming from the front of the truck. I've got a video of it but can't figure out how to put it on here

    1. Yes. Just fill up until the auto shut off on the pump goes off and drive until or just before the light turns on, fill up the same way, and use the mileage and amount of gas you put in to get an average mpg and multiply it by the tank volume. I keep a running tab on my average mileage by resetting the trip odo each time I fill. Just remember off roading is less fuel efficient so you won't get stranded thinking you could make it 300 miles on the Siberian tundra ;)

    2. Post it on YouTube. Just sign up for a free account if you don't already have a gmail address / google account. Then share the link under the media (film) icon.

I put in a tru-cool transmission cooler and discovered that the 98-00 bumper doesnt really give you a lot of room to work with. I actually had to hammer it down with a mallet, but eventually I got it into place. I flipped the AC line mount to push it further forward as well.

I'm a little late for this grille/bumper convo but I like the style with the TOYOTA in the center, if I wanted to dump money into a grille that's what I'd do.

I don't think Basic stocko look
    bad either though.
