I asked for as close to 2" as I could get in the front. I believe they are set to the 4th notch. Not sure if each notch gives the same lift on a 2nd gen as it would a 3rd. I sit slightly nose high.

5160s are valved to compliment the 6112s. I would not use 5100s personally.

Do the 1500 provide any rear lift?

No shocks don't provide lift. Only springs or coils

How do 1500 provide lift for the front with original coils? Do they have to be modified?

Different setup. The shocks don't provide the lift. The mounts for the coils do...

Front shocks with coils... The coils essentially ride or sit on the mount on shock body.

The rear suspension on our trucks sits on leaf springs for lift.

You have to understand shocks just dampen movement. They don't provide any lift. Springs provide the lift.

Thanks for the info. I'm new to yhe scene and doing homework on lift options. I understand the general operation of shocks and coils, but how they pertain to lifting a truck is new to me. Do the 1500 ship with new coil mounts?

5100s can use stock coils from the Tacoma or you can buy new coils. I recommend calling Headstrong OffRoad and talking to Marie or call Wheelers offroad and talk to the guys there. Both companies offer good pricing service and info. Also low range off road is not bad either.

Just depends what you plan to do with your truck and how much budget you have. Do you plan to add a lot of gear like aftermarket bumper skids and armor? Do you plan to tow or haul heavy loads often? Will it be a street queen or do you want to offroad? All of this will determine what you will want to buy...what kind of coils will work best, etc.

Well, if you want to "maintain" towing and hauling of stock vehicle, which is nonexistent, then by all means do not upgrade to something like Dakars. But if you actually want to have towing and hauling ability then get Dakars.
But get extended travel rears. 6112 is more better if you can afford it, but 5100s have been working well for me.

Hello, I have a 2006 Tacoma double cab 4x4. I want to do 6112 front, and 5160 in the back. I want to keep the stock springs, as I got them replaced 2 months ago ( warranty etc.). however, I want to lift the front to level the truck. what notch should I get the notch at to level the truck using the 6112's?

This may have actually been the most amazing thing I’ve seen to make my stupid brain understand this. Now I know what I’m gonna buy now.
