So took off grille today to install light and I'm looking at it and saying that grille is stupid, pushes out too much, doesn't really protect radiator. Should be some kind of aluminum mesh out there or maybe carbon fiber. But everything seem to be $700 plus, which to me seems ridiculous. Any ideas? Against paying money for cosmetics.

I got mine from custom car grilles. I think I was 75 bucks or so. Maybe a little more with the letters.

You can get a Pro grille for $400. That's not $700.
The grille is designed to protect the radiator from stuff like leaves or paper or a plastic bag blowing down the interstate. Maybe bugs. Nothing is going to keep a brick out of the grille at 70 mph, even a piece of drilled aluminum plate.
Now, you think it's cheap but I had a 1976 Chevy truck and it had the same old plastic grille. Actually don't know of ANY OEM grill on any vehicle, including class VIII trucks, designed as hard protection for the radiator and condenser.

Grillcraft blacked out front grill, cali raised fog lights, auxbeam ditch lights, LED interior lights.
I have the grillcraft mesh grill. Bought it off Amazon for about $200. Added a small TRD logo to it with ease. Install was pretty easy as well.

I've always used 1/4" "carpenter's cloth" to protect my radiator..!! It will catch the larger than 1/4" stones , birds, etc...

I paint it black and wire tie to the inside of the grill...

Make sure it cannot touch the evaporator or anything that it could rub on and cause an issue...!!

This is for "radiator protection" only, not over-all looks..!!

EDIT... what model of grill do you have..??

Nice Grill. Did you buy with the bezel or use the stock bezel?
