My florida truck has no rust, purchase a one way flight, buy one down here and drive it home.

I am looking for a 4x4 2007 -2011 Tacoma. Needs towing package, all power, preferable sports package but not a deal breaker, lift kit, all terrain tires. Must be in really good shape. Can't be from the Northern Rust Belt!
    thanks

Look for one in Texas. No salt air from the ocean and no salt on the roads. The frame on my truck looks brand new and it's 7 years old.

Well the good news is I did find a truck in FL. No frame rust and in very good shape. Will try and get a couple of pics to upload. Its a little dirty from the road trip home. Many thanks to forum members for helping me decide where NOT to get a truck :)Taco Truck 3.jpg Taco Truck 1.jpg Taco Truck 2.jpg

That's a great looking truck. Since frame rust was your main concern, post a picture of that one's frame. I'm in the market also. I learned that many trucks are from auctions from Rust Belt areas. Once I check the history, it's the first issue I rule out. You would think that any dealer with a truck that doesn't have a rusted frame would be showing that off in their ad pictures. That they don't can be because of two reasons. They don't know anything about Tacos' rust issue and/or they don't want that to be revealed. I had one Taco in the early '90s and then a string of Chevys. moving up to a heavier towing model each time. Never had a frame rust issue. Some will say they had all kinds of other mechanical issues. Not my experience. Rusted frames are a sad legacy for Tacomas. Btw, I'm looking for a '10-'13 AC Auto SR5/TRD 4x4 4.0. Within 200 miles of 28804.

I'll try to get some pics of the frame tomorrow and post them. Its really clean. I figured out how to take the VIN number and look up where the truck had been without having to pay for a car fax for every truck that was for sale. I did pull some car faxes but not until I narrowed down my list to about 5 vehicles across the country. I would say at least 80% of the trucks were from the rust belt. Even the ones not being sold in the rust belt were from the rust belt.

Which is it you want, ur post says 07-10, but here you said '11....05-10's are the frame recall's. The issue was allegedly resolved for the '11's. Anyways if your dream truck is in Ohio, make sure it's South of Columbus. They get significantly less snow then the North.

    Yes,you better be carefull.
Those years are the ones that has frame issues, from US ,way down here in Canada.
I got screwed by a guy, that sure dam knew about his defected frame.
Though i was naive enough to buy it anyways, turned out that at least everything was changed, frame, leaves, all the brake lines ,etc etc by our Toyota home town Dealer.
Even though i love my Tacoma,Man don t get close to a Tacoma that maybe is one of those.
Not hard to see,now that i ve been through all of this, but if there are doubts by just looking under those frames,Man stay away.
Best of luck finding a nice Tac.

I actually found a 2011 Tacoma after I started this thread that I was considering at the time. Drove down to Atlanta from FL to look at it. Frame was in good shape it just had a few cosmetic issues I didn't like about it but was considering it if I couldn't find something I liked better. Great bit of info though, I didn't know the frame issues were taken care of in 2011.

Good call on waiting for a southern truck.
I got taken when I grabbed up my 2007 couple years ago.
The exterior and interior were Amazing, but, once I crawled underneath, it was a mess.
Great looking truck and good job 'Hunting'.
What a Massachusetts truck looks like...
    IMG_20170703_161906583.jpg

It's very hard for me to believe the rust issue was 'Resolved' for 2011's. Toyota didn't change anything....
Hell, the 2017's have the same exact frame. It's not fixed, it just hasn't surfaced yet.

Ok here are some pics of the frame on my new 2007 Taco.
Wow, that is some serious rust going on there. Does it qualify under the Toyota Rust Recall?
I really appreciate the feedback I got on this thread that steered me away form making a similar mistake. I came real close to purchasing a truck in GA that looked flawless on the inside and out. I checked title and saw it was from the rust belt and had the dealer take some pics for me underneath the truck before I went and picked it up. I think he was oblivious to the rust issues. The pics were enough to steer me away from anything from the Rust Belt. Truck was from Ohio I believe.

Yea, Toyota in Dublin, GA has my truck now. Waiting on the frame to be delivered.
Dealers down here have NO idea about the Frame Settlement. I ended up having to get Corporate to have a conference call with my dealer to get the ball rolling.
For that matter, no one I've talked to down here knows about any rust issue with Tacoma's...Lol.

Here are the requested pics of the frame of my new '07 Tacoma. Sorry it took so long to get these posted. I was having a problem getting them to upload...stupid phone. As you can see it has had the rust proofing sprayed on the frame at the dealership. I thought it was in pretty decent shape.

Maybe, maybe not...they allegedly switched frame manufacturers.

Word is they switched suppliers for the frame. Time will tell if that solved the problem.
