Here are some from earlier today. I drove down a dirt road to get access to the back side of a landfill (part of my job), and while i was there, the temp soared enough to melt all the ice holding the clay togeather. I came back and my front right wheel was 10 inches deep in the clay. I tried rocking her back and forth, and all the electronic gizmos in the truck did nothing to free me (I have 4x4 with a locking diff. and atrac). I tried every combination i could think of, before putting my tail between my legs and getting a tractor to pull me out. I even hauled some huge planks of wood down off the landfill, but nothing worked. Finally a guy in a 4x4 tractor pulled me out, but not after sliding around and almost getting stuck himself. Wet Georgia clay + anything = stuck

I have the rugged fails on now, but that will change soon. Any suggestions on how to get out of mud like this with out using a winch? is is possible, or do i need to suck it up and but MTs or not go off roading when its wet here.

Not my first time being pulled out either. I'm well aware that tow straps don't mix well with wheels. I made sure to center it :p

So I was trying to get back to a place that I had seen posted about here on TW (the thread where the guy with the subaru he totaled jumping it). It wasn't fenced or signed, so I figured I was good to go.

I was a little lackadaisical and drove over a soft spot in the grass.

I sunk in deep very quickly.

    stucktacoma_8ebbd968267e17e3d3bc5d820ddd628a02222b3f.jpg

I dug and dug, lifted in the truck up with the hi lift, piled rocks, all to no avail. Nothing to winch off of either.

    Then Johnny Law showed up.

    stucktacoma2_f4d4c42ee133f67982181b8ce0c4efa3d1c1f4cf.jpg

He told me I was getting a small ticket and that a towing company was up here to get another guy out (he was the reason the police were called, he was practically on someone's front yard - dumbass) and that I needed to have them pull me out or I was going to get a larger ticket for destruction of property if I kept digging.

The tow guys wanted to charge $200 but we talked them down to $100.

Once the tow company pulled me out, they got stuck on their way out trying to get one of their employee's jeeps out (he was just goofing off in it as they worked - total bullshit he should've gotten a ticket too).

    stucktacoma3_fbcd73c4d82e5fe4b686942f558a7a8287f3ca82.jpg

I figured "hmm, a tow for a tow, right?". I let them winch off of me thinking if I could get them out, I could get my money back. But, the F-350 was too heavy and wasn't pulling at a straight angle so his winch wasn't strong enough (he had a 12,000 pound winch too). My truck kept getting pulled forward as well. They asked if they could anchor my truck to a telephone pole so it wouldn't move (they didn't have enough line to reach the pole without my truck).

I said no, I'm not going to risk my truck's frame to get you guys out.

Eventually I got bored and left, they were still stuck. They had a plan to winch the jeep out from the stuck truck, then transfer the receiver mounted winch to the jeep and pull the truck out.

Overall it was a helluva day and a lesson learned. $151 ticket and $100 tow.

Here's a few pics of my 1998 stuck at a park (The Mounds) near Flint, MI in January 2004. I had already slid into a tree, dented the fender, and then tore the flare off. My buddy got stuck and as I was headed over to pull him out I told him to guide me so I go around the ice. I didn't go 5 feet and the front end dropped out from under me. Not being locked sucked!!
