Hey guys and gals. I am about to get rid of the stock wheel and tire setup on the ole taco. Its an 06 prerunner (dc, lb) and i don't have the slightest clue on what size will fit and still give it that beefy look. It does have a 3" lift. Can someone PLEASE help. Thanks.

16-17" wheel with 4.0 to 4.5 backspacing and negative offset between -10mm and -12mm. This will stick the wheels about 1/4 past the fender to give that tough i'm bad look. 285/70R17 or 285/75R16 tires. Yes they will rub slightly but minor trimming of plastic will be fine, so long as you don't ajust the caster too far back after alignment.
There is your answer friend, and that's just a start cause we have an ocean of wheel and tire choices...

Backspacing is the distance from the inside lip of the rim to the mounting surface of the rim. To measure this, you would put the rim face down, place a straight edge across the rim and measue from the straight edge to the mounting surface. Offset is the distance the mounting surface is from the center of the rim, positive being away from the vehicle and negative being towards the vehicle. Essentially they are the same spec for the rim, just measuring it different ways. Just an FYI. :)

Mostly correct. He does want rims with 4.0 to 4.5 backspacing, but the offset will be dependent on the rim width. Here's a handy chart to help with conversion (it's about halfway down the page).

lol thanks for the info. i had no idea i couldn't just "go buy a set of rims". well heres another question for ya. i really like the the black XD rims (rockstar, etc.) if i cant find those with the backspacing i need, then does anyone have any suggestions for a brand that is tacoma friendly?

Most aftermarket wheels will have a version that has the backspacing you need.

Several people on here have the rockstars.
