I bought this cheap shifter on eBay for super cheap a long time ago for my 2nd gen taco, the TRD imprint got super dirty over time so I colorfilled it. Came out good. Cheap and fast $3 mod.

Does anyone else get the squeaky spring sound from underneath the truck when they press in the clutch? Seems to happen when it's humid.

Are you sure the sound is under the truck and not the pedal assembly? If it is the pedal assembly then use some disc brake grease on all the pivot points and that should take care of that old barn door sound.

I get that squeak sometimes too. This one is definitely underneath.

It is probably the slave cylinder pushrod squeaking. You'll have to remove the slave cylinder and grease the tip.

MT is the only way to go! Drive the AT TRD PRO and hated it! No balls behind it. At least with my MT, I can get a little tire chirp shifting to second. Lol

I've been interested in how the 2nd gen 6MT performed in those trucks. I've heard the 6MTs in those tucks were very problematic. Are the late model 13-15 year 6MT better than earlier model Trans. Also, how does 2nd gen compare to the 3rd gen 6MT.

I had an 08 and a 15 and never had any issues or problems, my 17 shifts much smoother with much less effort.

What RPMs would your trucks be at on the freeway going 65 in 6th gear. Also, how was throttle response and did they pull harder than your 3rd gen.

Both trucks are pretty close in RPMS, the 2nd Gen had much more use able power down low and the 3rd Gen has more power up high.

Getting close to 200k miles on my 6spd manual 2nd gen on just oil changes. Comparing to the 3rd gen manual trucks I've driven, my 2nd gen can be driven lazier (less shifting) and has more noticeable pull off the bottom. If the 3rd gens had the 4L engines, I'd jump on one.

Anybody hear a faint whistle or air noise sometimes when accelerating in 2nd or 3rd and then it stops when you take foot of the throttle. I hear this at less than 40mph.

Were you able to get this installed this weekend? If so, how is it driving?

I have not heard this noise on mine. Just the noise of the clutch when let out at a stop.

How about on hill starts, sounds like engine occasionally crackles.

No crackle. I do have an AFE intake making noises more noticeable but nothing out of the ordinary.

I pull the e-brake since so I will not roll back. Off roads do not come with the hill start.

Where is the crackle coming from you think? Internally in the engine.
