I can only imagine they damaged a brake line when working on your rear axle housing. Usually no real relationship between the differential and the rear brake mechanism unless it is electronically tied into the limited slip feature. Still does not explain the master cylinder unless they did something that damaged or contaminated the seals (i.e. wrong type fluid, etc) but if that were true they would need to replace all seals on all 4 wheels, wheel cylinders and calipers. I think this is the first master cylinder I have seen replaced. The only brake issue I recall was premature pad wear. I remember on some 2nd gens that they replaced complete rear brake assemblies due to corrosion. That was for trucks shipped on freighters from Japan with no corrosion treatment and the salt air ate up everything outside of the rear axles. You may want to start a new thread after you get the facts about this.

Thanks man that does make sense and there was brake fluid left on the inside on the brake drum.

This was suppose to be the guru wrench at this shop...

Let me tell you about Toyota and their guru mechanics. I had a couple of nasty issues when my truck was around 5 months old. When I upgraded wheels and tires my tire guy, who has installed at least 50 tires, wheels, sensors for me, found a tpms separated from the valve stem on the 1st tire. I watched him unmount the remaining tires. All 4 tpms were just rolling around inside my tires and the tpms light was NOT on. The light never came on and the pressures read fine. Second was a nasty squeaky body bushing in my front passenger radiator support. I took it to my local dealer. Their ace mechanic told me that the tire guy broke my sensors and the light would come on immediately. The ace also told me that my squeak was from my sway bar so he removed and greased the bushings. I made 2 videos. One showed my tire guy put all 4 of those broken sensors in an old wheel and tire. Rolled it next to my truck. Reset tpms and light went out. Threw in my bed and light never came on. Second video showed the nasty squeak 1 day after the ace fixed it. This moron actually argued with me about these issues. I have been working on cars for well over 40 years and am not ignorant. I youtubed both videos, sent both links to Toyota Corporate and 1 week later they replaced the body bushing and the 4 sensors with a big smile. In summary their mechanics are arrogant and not too bright (at least the one I dealt with). I hope you get some justice. Raise a ruckus with Corporate until you get satisfaction. Judge for yourself.

All I can say is I am sooooooooo fortunate that my truck has been great the past 9-12 months. Still no leaking around hogs head and still no recall notice for the cps. When I say great that means that the transmission is "satisfactory" after 2 updates. I do feel a need for a third update. Hope it comes out soon. But overall pretty happy right now. Good luck with yours. I gave up a great 10k miles 2014 F150 and an excellent low 60k mileage 2008 Prerunner for this 2016. Already been in the shop more than my 2 trucks I sold.

Well here we are again ,

You guys have your truck with new add-ons and all cool ass stuff

Me I went to pick up my Taco and guess what.

Brake are suppose to be fixed..

    Nope same as before,

I am not blaming the mechanic , service writer, no reason too

Tier 3 TACO support told the wrench what to do and it is NOT FUCKING Fixed.

    Have a great Monday,

I would still check the rear diffs once in a while.
Mine wasn't on the recall list either, but after 8,000 miles, there is a diff leak.

found out there are two braking systems.

    1, hydraulic brake system.
    2, Vacuum brake system.

i have option two, so i have a softer pedal.

i got my Taco back and i see the brakes operation doing well.

i am heading to West Texas to do some driving around the ranch and see how she does.

    Glad to have her back.

their "master techs" are garbage... One guy intentionally messed up my alignment to mess with me. told me my trans fluid was 100% when I was 3 qts low... told me that the High pressure fuel pump was supposed to scream at a 100 yards away and that its normal for my truck to have "grinding gears" over speed bumps.

just give me a regular tech I can explain whats going on and always make them ride with you...

toyota might have the worst service ive seen in recent years.. it wasnt always this bad.

it takes like 15 min to do start to finish if you have a rack... just depending on when they start it

30 min tops to clean up

If you go to Toyota.ca, click on Menu, under My Toyota click on recalls and campaigns. It will take you to a page where you can enter your VIN. I'm pretty sure Canadian VINs will also show recalls if entered on the Toyota.com site.

Edited to add: Or I could just add the link. https://www.toyota.ca/toyota/en/my-toyota/recalls
