:confused:Been having a foul smell when I kick on my AC so yesterday I informed the guys while getting my first service and they did a AC Refresh for the taco. Didn't notice anything at first besides a nice clean smell emitting from my AC.

Today I drive the truck, park it, run my errands and start it up to the most intense grinding sound I've ever heard! At first it scared me and shut the truck off thinking it was somehow my clutch. Looked over everything and realized this loud grinding sound was occurring when my AC system is on.

It sounds as if it's coming from under or behind the glove box. It's a very strong and intense grinding sound. Do the point where my dashboard shakes and vibrates. Noticed the foul odor has returned as well. Guess I'm going back to Toyota. Hope they don't end up pulling a half rotting squirrel from my AC.

Anyone else experience anything remotely similar???

Sounds like your air filter came dislodged and/or something is hitting your fan. (I'm not a mechanic)

Did they place small air fresheners in your vents? Perhaps something dropped through your vents into the fan motor...

Your blower fan could have broken. It seems a lot of people are running into this problem over the past month.

Blower fan cracked. Another quality issue (common) on these new trucks. Take a number the back order line is long for the parts required, last time i checked

Good thing I don't live in Arizona where the heat is still hitting above 110 or anything...

I think one of the last guys that posted a failure was told the Backorder list was already over 1100.

I wish I could bring mine up to 3. Even at the lowest setting it sounds like a kids bicycle with a baseball card in the spokes

    Remove the filter and look.

You could have a fan failure.

But you could have something simple you can clear up in much less time than you'd spend at a dealer.

The AC filter is intended to be user replaceable, so it won't be too difficult to get to.

Let us know what you find.

Are you taking your truck in today? Riverview or Camelback?

Is this issue a potential headache for all 3rd gens, or specific to certain models/trims?

Seems to be a fairly common issue.

Well, I'd be shocked if the blower motor/squirrel cage was not exactly the same part in every unit.

I guess that would mean 'all'.

I bought from automation Toyota Tempe so I guess it's going there.

Got an appointment for today but they ensured me they have zero loaner vehicles so if it's something they can't fix today, I'm going home with it...
