Yeah considering I have a chop saw and cut off wheelbase that's it, good luck to them cutting each little piece out of 3/16-1/4" spending 80% of the build time doing that and they will understand. Hoping to buy a plasma cutter with next years tax return.

See all those sticky threads at the top of the list of threads? Read through all of those. I did before I bought a single part.

Not gonna lie to some extent I am that guy who doesn't have a welder and needs the expertise of a fabricator from time to time. That being said though, some guys just don't understand good fabrication. Over in the NE area by me which is full of douche bags, most of them try to hustle some of my fabricator buddies...I laugh everytime they get the short end of the stick. At the same time though, I just don't know where this "cheap" mentality comes from when you don't really know the guy at all, and arnt even aware of what sort of hours it might take for the job or material. They also typically are shocked if it cant be made in a weekend, which as you stated, you got to get the mock up created, confirm your geo and stuff and then proceed onward. Two of the idiots out by me almost started a huge controversy with SOS fab just because his bumper took about 3-4 weeks longer and he wasn't getting updates like he was expecting.

When I get a real house, I def want to invest in a welder and start learning the real stuff!

People always ask me to help/build their stuff... NOPE! I have projects of my own plus my pop's has a trophy truck we race so most of my free time is already taken.

I have no clue how someone convinced me to build their truck. I was selling him my old Deavers and now I'm stuck installing them along with a bed cage and all. It wouldn't be such an issue if he had taken my initial advice of holding off until he had everything but he had some hack shop build a bed cage and c-notch for stock leafs. All garbage, incomplete welds, and no measuring. The c-notch hit the front side of the axle and while re-doing that I am finding the shop used a different thickness plate for EVERYTHING. Blows my mind how someone who calls themselves a shop would be proud to do such work, the c-notch had ZERO welds in the bottom.

Is it possible to run a giant sua kit with a 2.5x18 bypassc shock? I see most people running sua kits with 2.5x14 or 16..

I would def give giant themselves a call to see what thresholds they make available with their kit. I would assume though that depending on what bed cage you went with to just have higher shock towers or let the shop know you want 18s instead of 16s to run in it. With that being said, you may not ever get the full potential of 18s depending if the kit can honestly cycle to that much. I say this, but am not familiar enough with giant to verify if that shock would be as beneficial as going with 16s.

I just tell people it's 10 grand an axle to do it right and watch their dreams crumble.

Yeah I've said about 5k per corner to be pretty darn good. I'll be coming in at about 12k for my jump to LT. But that doesn't include tires, bumpers, other armor, lights, gearing, s/c etc...

True dat man, especially if you go BD for your lights! I easily have over 20k in mine already between suspension, lights, armor, and other stupid add ons. Gonna easily be reaching the value of my truck soon in upgrades.

    Damn money pit.

I just keep telling myself, "it's just money, you can't take it with you, who cares if you could have bought another Tacoma in cash at this point"
I stay off my Amazon cart around pay days and just get stuff I actually need, not want these days. Constantly building carts full of stuff on other sites and then telling myself "No" and closing the window. Gotta pay off some more debt first and the wife wants/needs a bigger car for the two kids soon. She said if I buy her a 4runner I can do a full MT build on it :).

I think that was what I meant to say.

That's my exact thoughts man, Im not butt hurt at all at this prospect as anyone informed in LT knows its just what happens. No regrets man, might even die without a cent to my name if I do it right.
