Are you in the medical field, by chance? My girlfriend is, and she's always talking about my veins and how she wants to see how big of a needle she can put in them

The same shit everyone else has.
I normally use Kold Kutter studs but the soles are beat to the point where they no longer stay in place. I've moved up to sheet metal screws and I'm currently using #14s and they are pulling out. I replace them every trip and by the middle of the day, they are all gone. The sole are hammered.

    I'm tough on my gear.

Patagucci sells a boot with similar bar, the Foot Tractor boots.

    http://www.hatchmag.com/articles/review-patagonia-foot-tractor-wading-boots/7712431

My inspiration came from here - https://troutbitten.com/2015/02/13/diy-bar-boots/ and here - https://www.rocktreads.com/

If they work, awesome. I'll get another however may months outta the boots. If not, I'm out 20$. I'll replace the bars and bolts with shorter bolts and washers and They'll sandwich the soles together for the time being. Hopefully Ill be able to find someone to resole them or have to order new boots worse come to worse.

I'm hoping they work as good as I think they will too.

Im not a fan of the Cabelas boots. They are heavier than then the Orvis ones with the bars. I wore em for less than a year and they are in pretty sad condition. The uppers are shot on em. Most of the seams are blown out. They've been Aquasealed dozens of times. I finally Gorilla glued them yesterday. The soles do have enough life in them to hold studs though which is a plus I guess.

    It never ends.

I still need to send my G3s in to get fixed/hopefully replaced. Nothing like 500$ waders being shitty and 100% not worth the cost. Let's hope the customer service is worth the 500$. Both booties leak, seams leak, they are full of pin holes and both of the front belt loops fell off. I've patched em multiple times and they still leak All over.

I'm 100% convinced all this high end gear gets all these great reviews from people who don't use their gear. I'm sure G3s last years when all you do is sit in a drift boat all day.

Put 50 days / 250 miles of hard fishing/hiking/brush busting/rock hoping on them and they leak all over the place. They leak just as much as my 250$ Orvis Silversonics that get put through the same abuse.

I feel like the "high end" gear I buy is no better than the normal stuff out there. All you're doing is paying for a name.

The cheap Cortland DT444 line I've been using cast better than the 80$ SA Mastery line I just purchased. I like my 30$ Cabelas CGR reel better than my Orvis Clearwater. Same goes for rods, the cheap Cabelas ones are better than the Orvis one I have.

I do own one piece of expensive gear that I love - My Orvis guide slingpack.

Am I the only who feels like this? I can see why fly fishing is looked at as a snob's "sport" for sure. People (including me) feel like they need all they high end expensive gear.

    /rant.

Agreed you are paying for a name. However, the customer service is something to look at. I had a pair of Patagonia waders that I fished super hard for 6 months backpacking, throwing them in the bed of a truck, and not keeping in the best condition. I sent them in cause they sprung a leak within 1 week no questions asked they sent me a electronic gift card for the full amount of their brand new 2017 wader model.

I truly believe everyone uses the same material or general items however, when you slap a logo on it... all hell breaks loose on the pricing

long story short customer service is key.

No felt allowed where I live. Had to throw away my simms boots.
Agreed to some extent but when I cast my Helios I'm glad I paid the $$ for it.

I pretty much stay on the beaten path these days but used to break brush to find stream tributaries or get around log falls.
I have punctured my share of waders too.
Have you looked into armored breathable duck hunting waders? maybe you can find something plain without a camo pattern.

My Cabelas are holding up well for me. I think this is their 5th-6th year. I probably don't get out as much as you though.
Why no felt? Worries about disease?
