Hey all, I just thought I'd add a quick note to this thread. I picked up one of Ben's / @Dissent86 's bed racks for my DCSB a few weeks back and I just got back from a 3K mi road trip of about 50/50 paved / USFS roads and some BLM roads. N. Cal, S. Oregon, Idaho and Wyoming. I have a 160lb RTT in which my wife and 3 y/o boy slept every night, plus 8 gallons of water in a tubular shower mounted to a pair of his awning brackets. That's about a 550 lb static load and the rack didn't seem to mind a bit. A little over 200lbs without us up in the tent and the rack seemed totally fine on moderately rocky trails (stock truck still). I did some pretty hard braking too just to test it a little further, with the rack loaded, and all is good. No notable wind noise at 80+ mph (no cab rack though, just the bed rack).

I was honestly a bit skeptical about the durability of such a light weight rack, but after bouncing the truck around pretty good and having no problems whatsoever to speak of, I'm confident this rack is good to go. This might be obvious but I did use a moderate dose of loctite on the hardware.

I'll add pics in the next couple days.

    Thanks Ben!

Since someone asked about MPG, I didn't notice any difference at all, even after putting up the rtt. The only difference I noticed in MPG was that once I got out of California (with some exception in some places in Idaho and Nevada), my truck ran way way better and I picked almost 3 full MPGs as I didn't have to force-feed it that ethanol garbage!

Looking great, really loving this rack and its versatility. I am also partial to the color ;)

What was your mpg on the paved portion? I am curious how the RTT being that high affected the avg mpg.

This is by far my favorite of the bed racks I’ve seen

After fresh oil and running at least California 91 octane, avg mpg estimate on paved highway was 19+ with another +/- 350 lb in the bed + one wife and one toddler in the cab along with 25 lbs misc gear. Though I typically drive pretty conservatively - you don't want to be behind me for long!

After the rack and rtt only (no passengers and bed empty aside from fridge and 20 lb lpg, I didn't notice much mpg loss on an initial 15 mile, 65 mph freeway run on flat ground; around 22.5 mpg. Time will tell more....

@Dissent86 I forgot to ask: does the cab rack use OE mount locations? Guessing there are mount points under the rubber stripping for the factory rack you're utilizing but I haven't pulled the rubber off my roof to look. No drilling or tapping required?

If you have a double cab, there is mounting locations under the rubber strip on the roof.

Has the cab rack been fitted on a Tacoma with the tech package yet? Curious where the load bars land with the sun roof and if everything clears.

I’m in for a bed rack as soon as I can order and a cab rack once I know what it fits like on the tech package.

@Dissent86 what are the chances you can make a rack for toppers to match the cab over rack if yours?
