Um, mistake me if I'm wrong but gas can't be siphoned due to screens, am I correct?

So to clarify, once the gas cap is off you can see directly down the hose. I could have sworn there was a little extra metal piece to stop debris?

Whatever you do, don't put a locking gas cap or siphon blocking screen/spring on it! Someone looking to steal gas from my 2002 tried drilling the lock off the gas cap, and then gave up and drilled a hole in the gas tank! I put one of these on the side of my truck (I stuck a magnet on the back of the transmitter/sensor) when I have to park in the street at night and it alerts me if someone walks by the truck: I'm in a quiet neighborhood and so there are few false alarms.

Thieves usually steal gas very easily from Tacoma's, pricks stab a hole into the tank and drain it right out.

They did away with that little trap door that used to be there.

If you compare the cost of a tank of gas vs the cost of repairing or replacing a drilled tank, you may probably lose the locking gas cap. I also thought about leaving a note asking the thieves to be nice and just use a $20 bill I leave under the fuel door to buy themselves some gas :)

whereas a Chevy(especially the 6.2l engine) or Ford usually will break down at just the sight of sand.

Maybe they wanted to steal it.

Then realized it was a 3rd Gen. Ran.

still seems better to replace a drilled tank (due to having a locking cap) then deal with fuel system parts (first the filter, then the pump, etc.)

My story in a very short terms... I drove the truck through sand and then through all dirt roads, and again through sand. One of the times some salt water exposure (dealer ruled out any water damage)

Each time I ended up with sand and or dirt in my fuel system and they charged my insurance 14k to replace everything from the gas company to injectors...

And it didn't fix the problem

Tested on Mythbusters. Sugar will just rust your tank if you have the old metal ones. But ours being plastic you're good.

    They ran the car fine.
Bleach kills it though. Especially bleach in the oil

I believe we have "anti-syphoning" screen or something in there.... I tried to syphon my own gas before taking in my 2006 Taco for the trade to the 2016... I was unable to get the hose into the gas....I even went down to a 1/2" hose and NO GO...!!

Pissed me off having to give the dealer all that gas (3/4 tank), so I took the Loooong way to the dealer to pick up new one...

There's a ball valve or something down there- if you use a small diameter hose with its end cut sharp it works- I had to drain my metal 2002!taco tank to repair it when it was drilled. I wouldn't repair the plastic tank in my 2017 Taco though- plastic streatches too much to be repaired safely.
