Not today but, got a call thursday night from some friends that they were headed down to the reservoir to go wake boarding and camping saturday/sunday and wanted to know if we wanted to go. Planned to just ground camp in the sake of being short on time, but left work a little early friday so I decided to stop at the steel shop on the way home and build a really quick bedrack to hold our roof top tent.

Turned out just fine and served its purpose for the weekend! Gonna pull it off in a day or two, throw some paint on it and sell it. Will build another in the near future but personally I want one that sits higher.

Didn't take any detailed pics of it completed, but you get the idea from this one...

All setup and holding the tent for a cpl nights...

And of course a cpl shots of the spoils of my labor, my 10 year old out on the water...

Reeling herself in wake surfing for the first time...

I think it is due to the dakar leafpack. It is intended for lift and load carrying. If you had plate bumper, swingout, RTT, etc it would not be an issue. But with stock bumper and empty bed this is what you get. I went with 881, trim packer and 10mm lift enhancer and wheelers 5 leaf pack on my 03 dcsb and got 2" net after settling with good on road driveability and good off road performance, although a little soft for really big loads.20170307_095651.jpg

The Dakar leaf packs aren't matched well with the 881's in my opinion, I had that setup and then switched to 882 coils after a month or so. Makes it sit much more level. The Dakars will settle though, it might take a while depending on your use. I would leave the weight in the bed, and bias it towards the passenger side if it helps with the lean. I swear sometimes mine leaned to the driver side, then I would look again and it was leaning to the passenger side.

You don't have the Dakar AAL in your leaf pack right? Doubtful that it accidentally came with it, but possible.

man, you're the second person in a week that has had the same issue with the dakars not taking out the lean enough.

Also i would have gone for the wheelers 5 packs with the 881s if you wanted it closer to level.

From what I've read, you can remove the upper overload leaf as well as the 3rd leaf from the top of the pack to get less lift in the rear of the truck. This is info that others have gotten directly from OME and posted online

Thanks for the reply. I just hit 120000 miles and I'm not sure if the previous owner replaced them.. I guess it's time to replace them just in case they haven't been touched.

I think they look weird. That boot looks less like a boot and more like a solid piece...

That's just a cover for the boot, I have only seen them on stock ones. So I believe it's a separate piece that can be ordered. But I rarely see people do that, but I could be wrong :notsure:

Correct, just a protective cover for the joint and boot. It can be reused with the new assembly.

    Replace with OEM

Relocated my ECT switch next to the Diff lock switch. Also Installed a modified Land Cruiser Rear Heat Switch to use as an offload light switch. It will be trigger from the high beam but also be able to turn on whenever. To mount these in the dash I had to carefully cut the holes and then epoxy the mounts to the back that I got from the junkyard.

Pull a leaf or two then. Keep them around for when the leaf pack starts to sag.

What trans temp gauge is that, I'd like to put one in on my Land Cruiser, it doesn't have OBDII so I guess I need a separate gauge and sender unit and this one looks nice.

but I would honestly recommend getting something else. The issues I have with this gauge is that you cannot connect it to the dimmer circuit, you can only attach a wire to the headlight circuit to dim the backlight 30%. While this works fine, it doesn't match the rest of the dash. There is no way around it since the backlighting is integrated into the circuitry and everything shares the same ground. Also, you cannot turn off the backlight, it is always on.

I suggest getting one from speedhut. They are a little more expensive, but you can pretty much build it exactly the way you want. I may end up swapping this one out for a speedhut gauge in the future.
