Had some surgeries back in 2015 that exposed a back injury that was in hiding. A year and a half of exercises and chiropractor visits later, I am now cleared to jump back on the box. Bring it on world, bring it on.

Forgot about this thread, and at the recommendation of Murph, I'm gonna re-post this question here:

I'm gonna stir the pot a bit since we've got a broad group.

Have any of you had any interaction with the latest and greatest *** heroin epidemic? Carfentnyl laced?

If so, as far as PPE and SOP/SOG's go, what has your department implemented?

My Fire department and the squad I use to work for (ambulance to keep this easily translated across the boards) recently had its first exposure to it. I've been tasked with developing and implementing some kind of response standard and obtaining PPE for these types of calls. (QRS co-ordinator for the department). We sent 4 to the hospital, thankfully no fatalities.

I've done quite a bit of research the last two days but have come up empty handed.

Are you referring to PPE for responses to manufacturing facilities (burried conex box:stirthepot:) of the drug or responses to opiate overdose patients? Did you send 4 firefighters to the hospital due to exposure or is that OD patients?

To responses of over dose patients. We sent one fire fighter, 2 emts and a medic.

3 of the 4 had proper ppe for a "standard" cardiac arrest (this was the initial dispatch)
All 4 had signs and symptoms.

Question for you guys, I smashed my finger pretty good on Tuesday of last week (long story involving a chipper and 7"-8" diameter log) I immediately followed RICE protocol (I happened to have a instant cold pack in my first aid kit) to reduce swelling and pain level. I drained the blood under the nail that evening (Good old drill bit method) and have been providing aid to keep it healthy since then, the nail has raised slightly from the bed, is this an indicator that it will fall off?

Let the nail decide. Most likely if its raised up yes, its going to fall off. However, treat it like a scab and let it fall off when it wants too. It will probably hang on longer than you think and would be quite painful to pull it off prematurely. Put a bandaid on it to tape it down, with the blood evacuated you might be able to save it.

I plan on leaving it alone but it does feel pretty funny, it's grown enough that it's just long enough to catch on things.
I definitely don't want to pull it off pre-maturely, the bandaid idea sounds good, I'll have to try it.
