De-badged the tailgate this morning. Nearly all the residue off. I've got one of the red TRD emblems (the actual OEM part, damned expensive little bastage even if it is metal) that will likely go on once I get everything cleaned off.

Bed bars are going to be the last addition to the truck before I depart on my roadtrip to AZ/UT (based out of Page, who knows how far from there we'll wander). Picked these up last minute from Lone Wolf Off Road here (relatively) local. In hind-sight I probably should have gone with something closer to 16" vs this 12" height, but live and learn. We'll see how these go on this trip and I'll make a decision when I get back on if I sell/swap/trade these out. If you want to follow my road trip, I'll be posting to my instagram account: https://www.instagram.com/jfischerphotography/

Headed back to the dealership this morning to discuss how the managed to spill a significant quantity of oil into the skid plate without cleaning it up, trans cross member, drive shaft, gas tank and even the rear diff is covered in oil from it flying off at speed. No, this wasn't a routine oil change, this was from the front diff needle bearing TSB.

Good news, nothing is leaking, they've checked the front diff fluid level and it's all good (still probably going to put a fresh qty of Mobile 1 in it after this trip), best guess is that a qty of fluid was spilled on the refill after the work was completed.

Toyota of Dallas, I suspect that whatever was spilled might not have been visible in the skid plate till after I started driving it and it flowed out. Agreed that the spill shouldn't have happened, or should have been caught at the time it happened, but they took care of the issue and cleaned up the under carriage for me this morning.

A new year has begun, and a new round of gear gets added to the Adventure Truck. Just ordered a Rugged Mid-Level rack from Rago Fabrication down in the Texas Hill Country. After searching high-and-low across the internets and talking to several fabricators they were the closest to my ideal setup that I could get without going full custom fab. Setup consists of a pair of 12" bed bars with large gusset plates drilled/slotted for accessories, in addition I purchased a pair of side panels and pair of top bars to bolt onto the bars to create a full 'rack' configuration. The nice thing will be that I can mix-and-match any combination of the pieces depending on my needs. From a single bar holding my hi-lift, to all six pieces bolted up and loaded down with all manner of gear. Anyone have thoughts on Rotopax sizes / configurations? Looking for at least 3-5 gallons of fuel and probably at least 2 gallons of water.

The truck as it was setup for the 'Ultimate Southwest Workshop' - September 2017, shot in Monument Valley along side a local pup who wanted to go for a ride.

That one is a favorite from the trip. One of the more remote locations in the Grand Canyon that you can 'walk up to' from the parking lot without a hike. Though to get to this exact view point a bit of a scramble is needed down a ledge or two below the railings. ;)

Happy to inspire another BRM owner!

TW member @Goose8651 came by go give the truck a full exterior detail. He did an excellent job making the paint shine like (or better than) new. Now that the last of the adhesive from the old decals and emblems are gone, hope to be able to put the new bedside decals on soon.

Back from a chilly but relaxing weekend in Easy Texas (missed out catching up with @ETXTacoma unfortunately). Did get a chance to test out some of the camping gear I'm taking to DVNP in a few weeks (flying, so it's strictly the 'backpacking' set of gear for those lovely checked baggage weight limits), but also got to experiment with some different options for how to load up the bed for an upcoming road trip through west Texas at the end of March. First I have to wait a few more weeks to get my Rago Fabricaton bed rack... then the next generation of the Adventure truck begins to take shape.

@ragofabrication mid-level rack (side panels not pictured, need to clean them up some from a few production marks in the softer aluminum) with a Yakima Megawarrior
