32's or 285's?

I have an 03 double cab TRD 4x4 non prerunner and just put a 3in suspension lift on it. I have 16inch 09 TRD rims and wanted to know should I go with 32's or 285's? Or can I go bigger without having to modify any fenders? I will be putting yoko geolanders AT's on it. Wgat you guys think?

I have 285's and they are just under 33"s. They are about 32.5"s to be honest.

What type of spacers should ya use to prevent rubbing?

 

If you are planning on running 285/70/17? Then you will want the 1.25" spidertrax hub centric wheel spacers!

the 285 is the width isn't it? so your question doesn't even make sense

the first number is width, second number is sidewall height (how tall your tire will be) the last number is the size of your wheel.

 

I'd run 285's. Thats what I'm running right now and I like the look. The next set of tires I get will probably be 32's because of the loss of power with the four cylinder engine. But since you have the V6 i'd go 285's.

 

I had '01 DC 32's on a 16x10 rim, front lifted an inch above leveled via Fabtech and had no rubbing except when offroading in exteme terrains,, I loved the way it looked and didnt seem to lose any hp

This was not ment to be a trick question. Im going to go with a 285-75-16 i believe unless I am going to dave to cut my fender flares. I just wanted to know what the biggest tire that I could fit under the truck with a 3 in lift without having to cut/modify my fenders or fender flares would be. They will be on 16in rims not 17's. My next question is will a 285-75 scrub on my upper control arm without a wheel spacer? I had a 3in on my 98 4x4 with 32/12.50's and when I turned sharp, it scrubed my control arm just a tad. I know the 285/75 is a 11.2 in wide so I should be good there right? I was ok with it but just wondering if I would have the same issue with the 285-75's

 

With the 285's i'd buy some 1/4" wheel spacers from Wheelers.com, these will solve your UCA rubbing problems. Now the tires will still rub a little bit on the frame at full lock, but its really no big deal.

OK, check my math, but I've got the same concern, and I just went and took some measurements.
I have stock 16x7 rims (which have 5.25" back spacing).
I'm only clearing the UCA by about 0.5" right now, which means:
There's 5.75" between the planes created by the UCA and the hub face.

My new ride is going to be 16x8 rims w 4.5" back spacing. So I'm adding 0.75" to the distance, minus the 0.5" growth in rim size, which means I'm netting 0.25" clearance. I think the UCA is a non-issue. Spacers may help in fender and skid plate clearances, but it's on hold for me.

How is it possible that there are that many people out there who don't know how to read tire size??

yeah my bad on that, I was in a hurry and wasnt thinkin. plus, I got drunk the night before! lol I know that 285 is your width its 285mm and 75 is the sidwall heigth. Thats a lot for spacers! im going to go without, I did with the 32's on the 98 and it wasnt a huge problem for me. Im going to go with terra grapplers or geolanders for tires. What do you guys think?
