My bike only cost me $600. Just outside of department store territory.

Welcome. Like others have said just keep up with the fluids and you should be good. My FJ ( same engine) had ~180k. Besides shit that was my own doing I've done nothing other than regular maintenance.

My 2005 Off-Road has recently crested the 100k mark and I've had to replace an a/c compressor, a wheel bearing, and I need to bring it back to the shop soon for either another wheel bearing (other side) or seized caliper. haven't diagnosed the issue and don't have time. but other than that the truck has been great.

I feel this, I've been looking at mountain bikes and the prices are crazy. I've been browsing craigslist now rather than rei or other retailers haha

    I also have a 2011 and I'm at 125,000 miles.

I did my fluids at 100k (coolant, transmission, transfer case, front and rear diff). They all looked pretty good, but it's nice to have fresh stuff in them.

I put new leaf packs on mine at 70k or so because mine only had the 3-leaf packs and was never eligible for any leaf recall. I actually just did again (125k) because I somehow broke a leaf in one of the packs. Did all four shocks around 70k too. Just did the back ones again this spring because one was leaking badly and binding up/making noise on rebound. The rear suspension takes a beating.

They're known for bad wheel bearings up front. I replaced both of mine around 75k because I thought my needle bearing noise from my suspension lift was a wheel bearing going out. If you never have, you may need to at some point in the future. You can buy hub assemblies from two different guys here that make the job much easier.

It's interesting that you have rust. I have very little, and mine's been in New England its entire life as well. It looks fantastic for a 6-year-old vehicle, especially one known for a lousy frame.

I'm on the opposite side of the state, so don't know any shops out there. Most stuff isn't too hard to do yourself. All I usually have anyone else do is alignments. Though I did have the dealer do an axle seal and inner tie rods this winter because I didn't want to deal with the tie rods and tried and failed with the axle seal. I wouldn't necessarily recommend a dealer, but I have connections at mine so they don't charge me what they'd charge a "normal customer" for anything.

Question for you paint experts. Opened up the box to check out the bamf mount.

Looks like it has possibly a powder coat already according to what I read on their site. The one I have is a bit dinged up, scratches, nicks, etc. A few possible rust spots maybe.

    20170829_220102.jpg 20170829_220028.jpg 20170829_215930.jpg

I want to clean it up/make it look nice before I put it on. What should I do? Can I just hit it up with some rattle can paint? What type if so? Do something else?

I have this stuff laying around... Will it work/be ok to use?

    Much appreciated peeps.

    Morning all.

@Cativelense, as noted above, sand off the rusty area and paint it. The rustoleum should be ok with a few coats but it won't last as long as properly adhered and unscratched powder coat. I have POR15 in the garage and would use that before the rustoleum.
