What sliders should I get?

I recently bought a 2017 Tacoma double cab and I was looking to buy some running boards. I was looking through here and saw that a lot of members recommended sliders instead and were saying that they're only a couple hundred more than running boards. I was looking online and the bolt on ones I would find were $600+ with shipping. I'm not planning on using my Tacoma off-road so protection against rocks or stumps isn't a huge concern. Are there any cheaper sliders that you would recommend mostly just to use as a step and protect against car doors?

Oh and do any of you know manufacturers in Florida so it might save me on shipping?

The choices run the gamut, you're best off looking at rigs and googling and seeing what you like. For me, I don't see the purpose of anything but a slider unless you are lifting, but that is just my opinion.

If you don't plan on offroading regular steps would be a better option IMO.

    Are you 4x4? Or 2wd?

Here is a really good deal:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/all-pro-slider-group-buy.506435/

Honestly, the price between a regular rail and sliders aren't that different. And you can look around here at how many people said they'd never need sliders and instead got steps only to rip off a step on a rock once they realized they wanted to off road.

You dont need sliders to only protect against car doors and use as steps.
Save the money and get nerf bars instead if you're never going to see trails

I agree to this. Sliders to me seem all around better and I'm in all pro buy. But if money is an issue and the added protection isn't necessary at any point pick up some nerfs second hand.

@Mobtown Offroad makes excellent ones and has a 100% bolt on design. You can get them to make it flat (instead of the traditional 15°) and add a fill plate so it'll act just like a step. It's like a step but on steroids.

Witnessing this slutty behavior, I should mention I'm in the SOS concepts Labor day deal, code TW15...

If you want the slider look at a cheaper price, look into trail-gear. They should be good enough but they require drilling as well.

I second @Mobtown Offroad. There's a Labor Day sale running right not. Shipping for our shop in Maryland to Florida will be relatively cheap.

If you're not going to wheel, and your goal is making entry/exit easier, then do NOT get sliders.

Wonderful for their purpose, but make getting in and out awkward rather than easier.

If they're built flat at 0° as opposed to the standard 15°, it's pretty handy actually.

Yep sliders are positioned a lot higher than a typical step so they really only make it awkward getting in and you really have to duck your head.

Hmmm. Maybe it's because I'm short but I don't have this problem with my sliders at all. They are angled at 20° and I still use them as a step.

I love my sliders. I use them as steps to get into my truck, but the best part is the morons who park right next to your truck and then swing their door open. It hits the slider before it dents the side of your truck. hahahaha.
