At some point it would be cool project to have the smaller version and put it on an old lawn mower chassis.
Once in a great while I'll go to a fair but I spend most of my time watching tractor pulls and make and break engines run.

Small pic dump, Monday was gorgeous up there. Tuesday was good hunting weather, cool and light overcast, until the skies darkened towards evening and the rain started. Forecast was for heavy rain today, so we decided to break camp and not stay 'til hunt close Wednesday night. IMGOBO, hunting in the rain sucks, and the trail we took further back in and up was pretty sketchy in places, not sure we'd want to go up and down it in a heavy rain. We're thankful for the two nice and bountiful days we got. :)

Good freaking hump day morning. Slept straight through for 8 hours last night. But had a nightmare about CNC machines no longer being run from a console program but G Code generated by a GUI in a CAD/CAM package and the "programmer" was pointing and shooting with a mouse. Glad I woke up when I did or would likely have seen a 2 button Windows mouse instead of a 3 button Unix mouse.

Looks like an Awesome time Rob! And your intel was spot on :) Hard to believe you have the same problems with ATV hunters up there but imagine it doesn't take you long to get away from them. And that the trip was a success in more ways than one  Beautiful. Have to take what you can from that Mother Nature gal and what she gives you, smart move.

    The power of coffee...

Skinned the pork belly last night and carefully figured out and mixed up the cure to sit in the fridge for the next week. Ended up with 2 slabs at 6.4 pounds each. And after my second cup of coffee this morning realized out of the blue that I forgot to add the salt to the cure mix last night. Can't have bacon without salt :goingcrazy:

Not too late although trying to dissolve the salt into cold brine isn't going to be fun. Work is going to have to wait.

    6.5 pounds pork belly
    1.5 teaspoons pink curing salt
    1.5 cup distilled water
    1.5 cup maple sugar
    6 sprigs fresh thyme
    4 bay leaves
2 teaspoons fresh ground coarse black pepper

    AND

    3/4 cup Kosher Salt

You don't need both sides connected. That's just a suggestion.
