Installed Overhead Compass and Temperature Display along with outside temperature sensor and wiring; LED lights reverse backup; LED license plate lights; Added GTA Bluetooth Audio kit to stock radio for iphone audio; Spare tire steel braided air hose extension connection to rear bumper; Installed new headlights along with new bulbs PIAA H4 XTreme and for fog lights PIAA H10 XTreme bulbs. Installed new hood with "hood-scoop". Installed Predator Side Steps. Replaced front chrome grill with customized color matched (Desert Sand Mica) grill with added TOYOTA lettering (also in matched color), installed and secured tailgate anti-theft devices. Also installed a new external TPMS monitor for all 4 tires.
You should have asked specific questions concerning Germany's EU headlights on vehicles once you were told that the headlights on your Tacoma failed (or did not pass) regulations.

Such as exactly what type/model/style, etc. bulbs should be used? Ask if the whole headlight housing assembly needs to be replaced as well?...etc. questions like that.

Keep in mind, in Germany (especially Germany) they don't care what country you came from and if they passed regulations, etc.over there. All they know is that it's not passing their regulations.

Your asking here on an American forum and in the U.S. the headlight regulation standards are not as stringent as compared to the European regulations (that's changing though). I really think that you are not going to find the answers to your exact questions that you are looking for, here on this forum.

But I maybe wrong. Just maybe someone here can help you out?

(I'm not an expert on European regulations, etc. I'm just going by what I had previously read about vehicles in Europe compared to the U.S. and also, I have traveled to Italy, Spain & Switzerland. Did see some Toyota vehicles, very little though but did not see any Toyota Tacoma's or recreational trucks for that matter. Did see a lot of small compact cars, BMW's, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar's, Audi and motorcycle bikes of all sorts and sizes. The Europeans are big on them over there.)

Good Luck on getting your problem/issue solved.

Well then it just maybe time to swap out the whole headlight assemblies (both sides) with those that will comply or meet the European (German) regulations and or standards?

That's why I mentioned in my previous post to inquire about this.

Maybe start off by searching here? https://www.carid.com/euro-headligh...&utm_campaign=54014693&utm_content=5161823366

That is "if" you can find them? It appears as though Carid has none for a Tacoma? :notsure:

EDIT: Oh and last, Toyota is not a U.S. vehicle it is a Japanese vehicle. Yes even though some are "assembled" here in the U.S. still it is a Japanese vehicle on all accounts.
As for U.S. trucks, specifically, are you saying that you are seeing a lot of actual U.S. trucks such as Dodge, Chevy or Ford?

Looks like, for now at least, that would appear to be your best choice to go with.

Good Luck and I really hope you get that headlight issue resolved.

Keep us posted and updated on what you finally decided on having done to correct it all.

Greetings from Finland. Contact TÜV Nord or DEKRA. You can get a certificate which confirms that the headlight fulfills ECE-R112 regulation. Cost about $100-200.

I'd be curious in the outcome. Seeing as the Tacoma is not sold in the EU, the headlights only come in the DOT pattern which is not compliant with E-code standard. The Hilux is sold in the EU instead, but has a different front end so the light assemblies are not interchangeable. I've looked for E-code Tacoma headlight assemblies and found nothing.

My FJ was imported from US to Germany when it was new. Only the rear fog light was added. It's possible to get it approved by invidual approval with DOT lights, the light pattern is approved if there is just a hint more on the right side, completely flat is not ok. Nowadays in Finland every DOT light is ok if and when they are meant for the right side trafic.

Let me know how this works out! I am military and have my Tacoma in Germany and have had a bunch of offers to buy. If I decide to I would like to be able to tell the buyer what they are in for.
