I have 18,800 on it now (just did an oil change the other day so the mileage is fresh in my mind). 4,800 of that came on a road trip this summer. Interestingly enough, when I bought the Taco, I was down to 2 vehicles...the truck and a Challenger Scat Pack in Sublime Green. While my wife was supportive of either, I knew which one she preferred. Of course thinking about it now, the TRD Pro would've been more in line price wise with the Challenger, so I should've grabbed that instead. They had an Inferno Pro on the lot the day I bought mine. Now I'm thinking of painting my '67 Cougar that Inferno color.

40k is nothing, did that in two years.

Have mine for 8 years now and 176k miles on it
Steering rack, some light bulbs, brakes, ujoints is all its needed so far.

I don't recall exactly when it first wouldn't work (except on high speed), but it was when the truck was under warranty. My dealer service department has always been resistant to fix things and claimed there was no recall. I simply take the connection apart and scratch the contact surfaces with a tiny screwdriver, snap it back and it works for another 'several weeks'.

I totality understand. I loved every Taco I've ever owed. I loved that Challenger God knows I did. But I didn't need 3 vehicles and I only put 4,000 miles on it in 2 1/2 Years I owned it. Buy the time I paid the payment, taxes and insurance it was costing me something like $5.00 a mile to drive it. OUCH..
And it sat in the garage except for weekends. Hell it only got rained on twice the whole time I had it.

And as much as I loved that Challenger I love my Taco more.

Mechanical issues with my truck in 6 years.

The battery died around year 4. Replaced it with a Duralast.
    upload_2017-8-28_9-47-23.jpg

Then the dreaded P2442 error code the 2012's are notorious for. Air pump and valve failure.
Toyota replaced it under a "Goodwill Warranty" saving me about $1,800.00. Thank God for that.

Other than that. (that was enough) she's been rock solid.

Only other was routine maintenance. I bought the exteded 2 year 24,000 mile service plan when I bought the truck new in addition to the 2 year 24,000 mile service Toyota offers with it's new vehicles. Only cost like an extra $7 a month and included the 3 year 36,000 mile service which as I understand it costs
about $300. So the truck was covered service wise for 4 years or 48,000 miles. When came time for the 3 year service I waited until the truck was right at 4 years old just before the service plan expired and had it performed at the 30,000 mile oil change.
The Tech working on my truck pulled me over to the side and handed me a brand new Toyota / Lexus air filter. Said he checked mine and it still looked new and that my service plan was paying for it so here have it. I got home and checked it and it did still look new. I ran the old one till a couple months ago and changed it for "just in case" I guess you could say. The old one still looked new with no debris and was almost White as snow.

Even though it is my daily driver interior wise the truck looks like new.
    But.
    • It is garage kept at night
    • I use a sunshade during the day.
    • I have seat covers

Backseat I keep a blanket over as I haul groceries weekly. Just in case of a spill.

Weathertech mats are on my list, this is the newest truck I've ever had and I plan on keeping it for a long time so I'm going to do weathertech mats and some good seat covers

I can recommend the WeatherTec's for liners. And for seat covers I highly recommend Clazzio's all the way.

The neoprene type works well I hear for someone that leads an active outdoor lifestyle.

I understand. We do not have a dog but we do have a Goat (cat). I have to keep an eye on him when he's outside.
He likes to get on stuff and "fluff" with his front paws.

    Goat.
