You can go to a Nash website, look at their different standard floor plan models and weight for the length of the trailer

Ok. found the article. 30 feet is just waaaaaaay too long by about 8-10 feet.

30 ft trailer? Maybe they should call the truck a Long Bed Tundra while they're at it.

Looks more like a 21-23ft, also I cannot see if he was using a load distribution hitch...

Ouch. 30' certainly does seem rather much for a Tacoma though....

Yeah, I'd be nervous about pulling something that big across the country with a Taco.

Looking at the website, it looks like a Nash 22H.... which is about 25' and under 5,000 lbs dry. GVWR is 7,000 lbs. The bigger trailers have a slide out the side which isn't visible in the pics from the actual story.

Hope the driver is ok. Sucks that he lost a truck and a brand new trailer he drove all the way across the country for.

Even if the GVWR IS 7000# I wonder if he had anything in the trailer to exceed his #6500 tow rating since he just picked it up. Regardless a 5000# dry weight is pushing the boundaries for this truck by the time you gear up. But if the trailer was dry and his truck had no gear I see no reason the truck could not handle this unless the driver was driving like an asshat. It even appears he had a equalizer hitch so who really knows because the article is obviously pushing fake news with the inadequate length of the trailer.

News stories rely on input from the people that were there and details just don't get vetted out. It's not a technical paper or anything.

Point is, news stories aren't reliable when it comes to getting details correct.
