Speaking of dealerships, have any of yall dealt with Toyota of McDonough? That's where I just bought my 2015. I wish I would've gone somewhere else. They suck.

Return it and go to another dealership and then have them ship it to the new dealership

I read the contract. There's nothing in it to where I can return it. My dealings with them are done anyway. It was just a PITA while I was there and shortly thereafter. Besides, I like the truck :mudding:

A little of this and a little of that.
I've dealt with Toyota of McDonough many times over the years. Only on parts though. I haven't bought a vehicle from them. There's a couple of decent guys at the parts counter now, but that hasn't always been the case. But then again, maybe I'm the ***hole.

I don't like to do any crazy trails (not that I can) but I also need my truck as my daily so I try not to beat her up too badly. But I do have a front tow hook. I may or may not have used it once or twice on some trails up in VA :anonymous:. I have a rear diff locker too though which is no 4x4 but it at least puts me a step above RWD with open diff. Plus I keep TREDs with me and a tow strap just in case. And I'm always down for some camping. It's more about the destination than the wheeling for me anyways. Gimme a spot in the mountains near some running water and I'm in heaven.

Haha ours are our DDs as well, we just know our limits (driver and truck) but don't push those limits all too often. Not worth it right now. But the more and more we hit the same old trails the more it has been about camping than wheeling. There's only so many times you can hit a trail till it loses its appeal. Then you just go faster with better suspension

My salesman was alright...typical salesman spewing bullshit, but he was nice and I got a good deal on the truck at a really good interest rate. Once I got transferred to financing to fill out all the paperwork, it went downhill fast. They "accidentally" changed my interest rate (ALWAYS read before you sign!) and had to fix that, then she couldn't answer any of my questions on all the fees and charges that were associated with the sale. We finally got out of there like 4 hrs later (for perspective, it took us about an hour to buy my wife's 4Runner in Atl...Ed Voyles Honda IIRC). Then it took them like 2 weeks to mail me a temporary tag (I was supposed to leave with one the day I bought the truck, but they fucked that up, too). After them saying they shipped it twice, I called up there and was an asshole and I magically had the tag in my mailbox 2 days later.

Now, this next part is partly my fault because I should've never returned to the hellhole, but they had a used 2017 in the desert tan color for like $5k cheaper than I bought my 2015...it was a 2wd and had no bells or whistles like my 2015 does. I stopped in just to see what they'd do for a trade-in because I LOVE that color. The paperwork he brought me had me financing like $10k more. I was so pissed and decided to leave to not waste anyone's time and they sent out their e̶n̶f̶o̶r̶c̶e̶r finance guy and he wouldn't let me leave. He was trying to convince me how it was in my best interest to pay $10k more for a truck that is valued less than the truck I had just purchased from them 2 weeks prior. They had my keys (they "inspected" my truck to value it) and I asked him twice to go get them and he wouldn't. This is where it gets bad: he was like, "dude, what's the issue?" and I said it was a bad deal and I was leaving. I mentioned something about my wife and he was like, "oh, that's why you don't wanna do it...let's call her right now." I said dude, "my wife is 6 months pregnant...if you call her, she's going to come up here and kick your ass and I'm not going to stop her." Finally, he was like, "dude, just do it...it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission..." I just stared at him because I couldn't believe he said that. I told him to go get my fucking keys and that I was out of there. It gets worse: he came back with the supposed owner and they wrote down all the numbers on a blank sheet of paper and asked me to sign to "lock in those numbers." I told them that I was in my final year of law school and my first lesson on day one of year one was "DON'T SIGN SHIT." Then, I left.

I hope that place burns to the ground.

The wife was looking at their reviews online after all this and said that one guy complained that he went in for his free tire rotation and oil change and they didn't even rotate his tires after they said he did...he marked them with chalk. I get free oil changes and tire rotations for life, but I refuse to go back up there because I'll end up murdering someone.

Stories like this make me dread the ordeal of getting a new truck once I'm ready...

Just review the place before you go. We didn't do that. When we bought my wife's 4Runner, it was a very pleasant experience and I didn't feel like they were trying to screw me. The entire experience at Toyota of McDonough, I felt like they were trying to pull a fast one on me and they would have if I didn't read my contract before signing it. I hear most of the North Atl and the Macon dealerships are great because they deal with higher caliber customers and the dealerships are in a nicer part of town. Toyota of McDonough is ghetto and they were really unprofessional. And this is coming from a guy who has NEVER done a bad review on any business.

I started visiting a few dealerships last weekend just to test the waters (Carmax, ATL Toyota, and Rick Hendrick Chevy). Google reviews were relatively favorable for all three if I remember right. Carmax followed their normal business model of "we'll leave you alone until you ask us for a test drive", ATL Toyota guy didn't know too much about their used stock, but he was at least there to show me around as soon as I walked onto the lot, and looked up info to search for what I was looking for.

Rick Hendrick Chevy though convinced me NOT to come back. I walked around looking at their Z71 Silverados for a good while, and the sales guys ignored me. Same deal in the showroom too, even after I asked for someone. The kicker is that some old folks came in looking at Camaros/Corvettes and someone jumped right on them within 10 min. I get that it's the stereotype for sales guys to generally pay more attention to folks that look like big sales, but if you're gonna follow that stereotype hard, I don't want to buy a $30-$40k truck from you.

In looking for my 2015, I went to 4 dealerships. On the second or third trip to #3 (Milton Martin) I had my checkbook in hand, ready to order a truck. However, they would not remove a ridiculous fee that I didn't want to pay, and expected $1000 NON-REFUNDABLE deposit. I walked out, and oddly, never heard from them again.

By chance (internet search) I went to Cherokee County Toyota. I told them what I wanted, they told me the price. End of discussion. I wrote a check. So much nicer to be treated as an intelligent, respected human being.

I'll have to look into their stock then. Eventually once I get ready, I'll be the same way when buying one I like. No financing if I can avoid it.
