Auto Door Locks

I know this is a Tacoma forum, by my wife has an 08 4Runner and when you shift to park from drive the doors automatically unlock themselves. Does anyone know how to disable this feature w/o going to a dealer? I feel this feature is kind of unsafe, especially since we haul our kids around and don't want someone on the outside to be able to open up the door or anything like that. Any help would be appreciated.

On the same note, I have an 06 Tacoma DC and it doesn't seem to have the auto lock feature when shifting from park to drive, is this normal? I don't have the factory key fobs, I have an aftermarket code alarm. Don't know if that makes a difference.

 

that's how it is with my dads 2010 Matrix, it also does that when you put it in Drive. Put EACH TIME, so it has probably something to do with a sensor. I was going from Park to Drive for a bit and I noticed that each time I would put it into said gear, the doors would either lock or unlock themselves.

 

Do the back doors not have child safety locks?
Personally I kinda like the feature myself.

 

Yea, I had a 4Runner before the Tacoma and one feature I miss is the auto lock and unlock, need the VIP system for that, check out this thread it may help your problem

 

They do have the saftey locks, I'm not trying to keep my kids in, I'm trying to keep strangers/people I don't know out, after I put it in park.
