Mitch76 (and others), will any 2nd gen year tailgate fit on other years? I have a 2011 that I have banged up and would like to replace. Appreciate any thoughts.

Yea it sounds like it. It looks awesome and is a great idea though! Thanks very much, I try to have my mods be very functional and look like factory! I think most of them have met that goal.

my tale of woes.... I drove from Rochester NY to Great Lakes IL last weekend to visit my oldest boy (in the Navy). I got there Friday (11.5 hours) and on Saturday an idler pulley seized. I heard it going and had a Toyota dealer 9 miles away. Unfortunately the belt let go 5 miles from the dealer. I was going to go from parking lot to parking lot but after the third try my battery died. I got within 3 miles and had to get roadside assistance. By the time I got to the dealer it was 2PM and they closed at 4... they did nothing but look at it and determined I needed at least 2 pulleys and the tension-er pulley (they had been coated with melted rubber). I was leaving Monday at noon and figured with parts and stuff i was not getting out on schedule. As it turns out they got my parts aftermarket local and had me out by Noon Monday. They were awesome on work (got home safe) and awesome on time (in on Saturday afternoon out on Monday morning) but not so awesome on money... $950. that price is insane but each day I stuck around and argued or looked somewhere else was $100 in hotel and Uber. If this happened at home I would have fixed it in my driveway. the cup half full is it let go in a parking lot and not 80 miles an hour in rush hour traffic.

so today I had new tires put on. I had 285/70R17 and they were too wide for my liking. I had choices but I am cheap and could not afford 34x10.5.... so I went with LT 255/80R17 ST/MAXX (about 34x10). I had to get new rims for this to work because those tires will not fit on 9 inch rims. I got a great deal on 4Runner rims off Criagslist and here they are (rims and tires mounted.

I love the look and feel of these tires and I love the rims (miss my black ones but these are great). Only problem here is I was informed today that my left front bearing is going bad. My wife is going to kill me. when I am done with this crap I will have spent $2500 ($980 repair, $950 tires/rims/mounted, $500 for bearing and alignment).

i tell you what, after going from 285 to 255 I am amazed at the driving difference... it is much easier to steer and it actually feels like it accelerates better (probably in my head).
