I was a "Crown Lands Officer" with the MNR (26 yrs) and unless the actual site has signs to prohibit camping on long weekends, you can camp on Crown land as you see fit...(up to 21 days)... The "signs" have to be put up by the MNR, not cottagers, etc..!!

This sounds like BS to me... Anyone wanting to confirm should call the Parry Sound office of the MNR to see what they say..! They are the landlords there..!

I don't think you have to worry about that. I was in Ardbeg this year on May long weekend and there were lots of people camping at Black Lake. I was also there last summer for August long weekend and same thing.

I just sent the MNR an e-mail and I'll let you in on the response...

Sounds like that campsite has been taking a beating....!!

Yep, OF4 used to host a clean up there cause idiots leave a mess. I know they have pics on their facebook page of them bringing a full 20yard bin out of garbage from dumb cunts leaving everything behind.
    Good to know.
So maybe we can still use it.
Appreciate it John. Let us know what you find.
OF4 used to host a clean up there since yes some people are ignorant fucking shits that ruin it for everyone because they don't clean up after themselves. Know nothing about the simple rule leave no trace. Honestly when I go camping with the girlfriend we don't even have ground fires anymore. I have a fold up fire pit thing from primus that I'd rather use. For one I know its clean so I can cook on it as I don't bring a BBQ just stove, and it leaves no trace of charred ground etc. I mean I leave the ash behind after its cool but that's all.

Pretty sure the "No camping on long weekends" would be mentioned on the big sign as you enter the beach area. I don't seem to remember it saying anything about it though, just mentions the leave no trace concept. Whoever is heading up early should just read that sign and report back.

could always just turn your phone off you know lmao.

    All good man.
I'm trying to decide which sleeping bag I should bring now given the cooler temps. one I was planning on bringing is only good to 7 degrees. But the other one I have is my winter one which is -20 - 0 so might be too warm lol.
