Think it depends on what you use your truck for.

I just picked up 500 lbs of lumber this morning and it fits all my tools plus I can still park it in the absolute shit show this city has become.

I've had my 99 for I've 10 years, I'm determined to drive it until there's nothing left of it, but it may go from daily driver/work truck to weekend toy, then I'll want something with more comfort.

I will have to look hard at my next truck, I agree though, I feel like there is a lot out there that is competitive for the price point.

The new Colorados look like damn nice trucks and as far as I know they aren't as pricey as a new Tacoma.

I'm on my 4th Toyota pickup over 29 years, tried a Ranger for 3 years, and was really disappointed. Have a 2500 HD 4x4 for heavy trailers, but I can't reach over the side to get anything out of the back. I can haul a lot of stuff in the Taco, and reach it easily, besides, only Toyotas are practically trouble free. The detroit trucks will pass anything but a gas station or a repair shop.

Hopefully by the time I wear this one out I won't be able to drive anymore :)

For last 25+ years mostly drove Corollas. 20 prior started with a Dodge truck, then GM's & Fords. I know a lot has changed... they have gotten better & I know Toyota doesn't seem to be trying as hard to make a good selection (i.e. two engine choices & have an automatic trans...). But at the end of the day all my Corolla's all went over 200k miles (if I didn't crash them), though some started with 100k+.

I considered other brands when buying the last couple of times, especially when I got the Tacoma. But then when I hear my neighbors &/or coworkers tell me how much they love their Rams, GM's or Fords followed shortly about stories of just a few problems I make an easy decision & get another Toyota.

I do have one issue on my Tacoma... there was a lot of wind noise... I finally figured out it was coming from the passenger side windshield edge. I put some white duct tape on the edge of the window & frame & it is soooo much more quite. Looks a bit red neck, but I have no issues shaming Toyota until they get a little more careful with their design :)

Use it for DD, trips to & on the beach & soon will be doing some towing & a bit more dirt/logging roads (not really off roading).

If it holds up to 250k+ miles with minimal issues will be getting another...

The same shit everyone else has.
My access cab TRD OR perfect for what I need it for. Comfortable for 2 people. Enough room for fishing/camping/hunting gear. And more than capable of handling state forest/fire/gamelands roads but still being comfortable enough to drive every day.

If I towed or hauled a buncha shit alot, I could see my truck not being up to par.

So after 24 hours with the F150, I ended up not buying it. I didnt want another black truck so I placed an order for the exact same truck but in magnetic gray. Said it would take about 4 weeks to get here. Some notes.

-The auto stop/start was a little weird to deal with. It was smooth and you really didn't notice it but still odd.

-The 10 speed auto shifted flawlessly. Honestly, never felt it shift unless I really got into it.

-The 3.5 has a shit ton of power. My poor Tacoma feels anemic but they are two completely different vehicles so I won't compare the two based on engines.

-Lastly, this thing is huge. That's going to take some getting used to. Both in size and sticker. But, I was expecting the last part.

About negative $.50 of my 2 cents-

-Ridgelines are the stupidest excuse for a truck I've ever seen, and having had Hondas and had to work on them, I have no idea how Honda ever got the reputation as a reliable car. Two words- adjustable valves.

-Anyone who thinks a Ford Raptor doesn't look absolutely badass deserves to drive a Honda Ridgeline and be permanently confined to the HOV lane.

-Lastly, if you drive a Ford and ditched your Tacoma, wth are you doing on a Tacoma forum?

Ridgline is better than Toyota in almost every aspect. Frame. Interior. Do a little research on the Ridgeline and you'll want one.

Compare off road capabilities of the paiir, then drive your Honda in a dumpster.

My Tacoma is nice and all, but it bores the hell out of me. Had a Jeep before and honestly I'd rather have another one again.

This may be it for Toyota. A week to replace the instrument panel, almost three months for the rearend leak, and now there is another recall. That will be over three months in less then a year and a half. I never should have traded in my 2011 regular cab Taco, now that was a truck!
