So I was at home depot returning some spray paint. I was gonna paint my A/C dash plate from silver to black to match the new metra kit but changed my mind. Soooo I am walking back out to my truck and see this yellow FJ cruiser all decked out with an off road bumper, a winch, a nice lift, off road tires and wheels, off road lights, custom plates, and it just looks pretty sweet!!!

Then I saw and realized this.....

    Can you see it??????

    How about now?

Parked in a handicap space with a handicap placard!

I wish no illness upon anyone but this seemed odd and funny to me :)

It seems odd- but I know a guy who drives the same color FJ lives down here tho. Was a Navy Diver until an accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. His rig is one of the best equipped (offroad and handicap mods) and driven by one of the most capable drivers I have ever seen. HE is the guy I would call if I fuck up so bad that I can't get myself out.

And he does it all with hand controls and a Quickie Sport wheelchair.

I have a similar story. I saw this Lambo up in Canadian on my way to Wayne Grektzy's (sp) restaurant. If you look closely all the way on the right side of the dash (driver's side) you can see a handicap card

My Bro. in law is paralyzed and uses a wheel chair. He was the one that actually got me interested in Tacoma’s. He took a first gen Tacoma supercharged it put a straight axle conversion, lifted it 12 inches with 38 in swampers among many other things. All of this from a wheel chair! Huge inspiration I can't even change my oil without going back to my tool box a half dozen times, try doing that with the use of your legs.

I need to get some pics of his ride it's pretty sick! Not a commuter for that he has a diesel Doge Ram Mega Cab.

Post them up! I would love to see it!

I to have a friend who is paralyzed waste down. As I stated I would never wish illness upon anyone but the FJ was just standing out alone in the parking lot with no cars around it and I realized why LOL

You don't need to be paralyzed to receive the handi cap card for your car. Sadly they hand those things out like candy on Halloween. It's a very loosely based term for that.

yea but still. Even if it was a legit card. A lambo driver would have a hell of a time getting in and out so low to the ground. I feel different going from my friend's BMW to my dad's taco. I cannot think of how hard it would be to get out of a lambo with a leg or other problem

No worries I didn't take any offense to your post. It's definitely not the most conventional ride for someone with a disability. On his Dodge he has a lift for his chair to get it from the truck bed, we call it the 8th wonder of the world because people can't help but stair in awe when they see him get in and out of his truck.

I’ll see if he can e-mail me some pics of his truck.

I have a buddy with a heart condition that qualifies him for one of those. He doesn't even use it all the time, but it's legit. You'd never know he had a problem if you met him.

I do sometimes think I see an ironic car/handicapped tag combo (like that truck or the lambo), but I catch myself and remember there are MANY reasons you might need a tag, and a lot of them don't prevent you from driving whatever the hell you want.

I dont find it funny at all. Props to the guy. Out here, We had a county Attorney (Rick Romley), Who was an avid off roader, I belive he was involved in a local Jeep club, and he had lost both legs above the knee in Vietnam. I have met quite a few off roaders who were handicapped.

There's a hell of a lot of people without physical disabilities that have no business holding a drivers license, believe me, I live in Vancouver and would rather chew my own eyelids off than have to drive in Richmond.
