36500 mi, seatbelt height adjuster on passenger side rattles (doesn't bother me too much), passenger dashboard above glovebox rattles, and sometimes I get this really loud one in the plastic in front of the drivers side window. They drive me NUTS!!

Rattles? Yes. Thankfully I drive around with the radio on. If I didn't, that behind the glove box rattle would drive me nuts. Started at 15k.

Rattles happen-it's a truck, after all! The only complaint I've ever had with my Tacoma is the horribly shitty tires, which make highway driving less than enjoyable. 7500 mi, Std Cab Pre.

Wow, I was pissed. I was driving around town and kept hearing this rattle coming from my right. It sounded like something literally inside the front passenger door. It only happened when I would hit a bump or pothole but I could hear the rattle over the sounds of driving and whatever bump caused it. It lasted my whole drive (30 minutes) and started up again when I got in to go home. WTF?!??!!?!?

So I got home and took the panel off the passenger side front door and proceeded to poke, prod and tighten every damn thing in there. I zip tied and braced, wedged and jammed for about a 1/2 hour then reassembled the door for a test drive. DAMMIT, the rattle is still there.

    :annoyed:

By this time it's getting dark so I go back home still ticked off, eat dinner and go to bed. The next day I get up for work and intentionally turn up the radio to 40+ so I don't hear the damn noise. On the way back home I forget to do this and noticed the noise was gone. WTF??? Did cranking the speakers vibrate something back into place?

Pleased that all seemed well with the world again I went home, ate dinner, did the bedtime routine with the kiddo, etc. Went to work the next morning and THE DAMN NOISE WAS BACK! F*CK!!!!

    :frusty:

Ok, so after 4 days like this, with the noise happening off and on I decided to have a buddy sit in the passenger seat while driving so he could help me pinpoint it. Of course it didn't happen then... SH*T!

    :annoyed:

Finally two days later I'm driving to lunch with that same guy (we work together) and I hear the rattle. "THERE THAT F*CKER IS NOW!" I say loudly enough to make him spew his iced tea. Good thing I have Weathertechs but finally I was going to get this nailed down and fixed!

So we drive about another 1/2 mile with me pointing in air approximating where I hear the sound from. He does the same and our arms were pointing in opposite directions. He heard it coming from my side! As we were sitting there, arms pointing in opposite directions I glanced where they crossed and looked up... the only things there were the sunglasses holder and rear view mirror. At the next light I start poking the mirror and the door on the holder a bit to see if they weren't tight and then opened the holder and saw my sunglasses in there. No F'ing Way, I said but I thought back over the past week and sure enough... the noise only happened when it was dark/cloudy/rainy outside and I didn't need my sunglasses and they were up there rattling around. F*CK!

   <-- Me

   <-- My buddy

I would imagine it much depends on how you treat your truck. If you thrash it out in the boonies all day long....well then you may end up with a few issues, rattles etc. Parts have a tendency to get loose when your bouncing around. These trucks are not built to with stand DAKAR Rally treatment.

For what its worth...I take really good care of my truck. It has always paid off in the long run. ;)

I have 44k miles in mine, and today, for the first time, i thought I heard a rattle underneath or near the glove box. Will take for a test drive tonight and will report back.

There's WAAAY to many mods on these trucks to get an accurate answer to this question...once you change anything from stock it affects th engineering of the truck.

Check Consumer Reports...they rate STOCK trucks

RJ , I had a rattle that sounded like it was behind the passenger dash air bag location , turns out there is a relay back in there that is supposed to be secured with a tie down and two screws , one of the screws had backed out and the relay was knocking around when I hit bumps , replaced the screw and the noise is gone !

I'm glad , on a gravel road it was really pissing me off ,

I have 55,000 Kilometers (30,000+ miles) on my basically stock 06 TRD LB and not a rattle or squeak to be heard. I did have very squeaky and loud spring bushings when new but Toyota put new springs (larger ones) and new neoprene bushings in and all has been good since.

I've been puting up with rattling for a while now... I just recently discovered that it's actually being caused by my sunglasses in the sunglass holder :frusty:

Nothing major or fancy. Just stuff to make it work better for me. Running boards, seat covers, BakFlip
I had a 2005 that I put a lot of hard miles on, mostly on logging roads. I didn't baby it, it was just a work rig. When I traded it on a 2009 last year it was as tight as the day I bought it. The only rattles came from stuff rolling around in the back that I didn't bother to tie down.
