If we go 8-5 again, Kirby won't be there next year. I think it'll have to be a 10 win year to be considered a successful second year for him.

We SHOULD win the east. But, we should have for the last 5 years.

It's nice seeing all the depth and all the prospects excited about committing to the G. Probably just lip service, but Kirby has said the WR corps is one of the strengths of the team going into the last few weeks of preseason. :notsure: we'll see. I hope he's telling the truth, because that was a MAJOR Achilles for us last year.

    Go Hokies!!! That is all.

Edit: I might like Hokies FB a little too much. Throwback to my cadet days.

This is coming from a level headed Bama fan(not the Bammers that most of you are familiar with) so take it for what its worth. I honestly think UGA was crazy for getting rid of Richt but that's just me. I know he was known as "perpetual mediocrity" over the last couple years, but the man averaged 9+ wins and a bowl game. But, with that said, I think yall have a stud in Kirby Smart and that's not just the Bama bias talking. I was actually hoping he would succeed Saban once he retired. I have a hard time believing that UGA would get rid of Smart if he goes 8-5 with a bowl win, but again, that's just me. Only going into his 2nd year, what exactly are the expectations for him? Especially only have 1 true full year of recruiting.

I agree getting rid of him after this year would be stupid. His best year should be year 3, when he has all his players. Richt was a good coach, but it was time for him to go. The east should have been an easy win for the last 5 years...but we still haven't won it in, what, a decade? You can only under achieve for so long before that same success becomes failure.

My expectations this year are 9-10 wins, win the east, and maybe rep the SEC in the sugar bowl. With the talent coming back, plus the young talent he's brought in, I would love to say "making a push for the CFP", but, without seeing the O line yet and seeing if Eason has matured from year 1 to now, I can't make that jump.

I really liked Richt, great man, and a good coach. He was very stable and made me feel good about our program, a since of pride knowing we would be competitive every year. I really wanted him to be the one to bring us a championship. But year after year of the same ole same ole just got old and predictable and I can't speak for all UGA fans, but think I speak for the majority that it was just time for a change and time to try to move forward. I do think he got complacent and the move was good for him from the standpoint of reinspiring himself.

The big difference I see in Kirby is recruiting depth. Richt seemed to only recruit for the 1's to where Kirby has the Sabah mentality of next man up so it's gonna take time to get to that point.

Your expectations are spot on for me. I want to say we can make a playoff run but the inexperience on the o-line and Eason's accuracy hold me back. Plus year after year of let downs doesn't help either. Also don't want to be that fan that screams NC every year that were known for. I like to think I'm a realist. Does that mean I think we can't make a playoff run? No, I think it's very possible but it's gonna take some guys stepping up to do so. And history has proved the opposite for us, guys not living up to expectations. Hopefully that's where Kirby comes in and pays dividends, getting more out of his talent than Richt did. Hell, how many players have we had that were good but went to the NFL and turned into studs? That's just another knock against Richt I didn't mention above.

Richt and Tommy Bowden always reminded me of each other

Both were good solid coaches...that couldn't get over the proverbial hump and ended up wallowing in good but not great legacies

I won't say mediocrity bc that's less than good

Well...I was supposed to work next weekend. Buddy text me and said he had 2 extra tickets to UGA/app st, and I was able to get someone to swap days with me. So, instead of being at work and not getting to watch football, I'll be heading to Athens. First game in Athens in years
