Seems like every Tacoma wreck I see, even the one my own father was in recently, the Tacomas seem to have the most damage. Not like both of these vehicles pictured aren't equally totaled or anything.

The Tacoma driver appears to have taken the brunt of it!

I hope all the people are doing ok, that's awful.

Another angle of the Tacoma. News report said driver was taken to hospital but injuries were not life threatening.

Damn, that looks like a fairly slow speed thoroughfare. Any idea the speed involved with that crash?? The Taco looks like it was going a hundred!!

Pushed the ECT button by accident, and warp speed ensued.

I'm wondering if maybe the Taco hit the bus and rolled, and then got hit by the Jeep once it was on its side.

    My guess is:

The bus pulled out in front of the Taco because the driver wasn't paying attention -> Taco tries to swerve but slams into the rear corner of the bus, smashing the front end and flipping it onto it's side and half-way into on coming traffic -> Jeep is oncoming car and doesn't have time to react and thus plows into the Taco head on at an angle.

Good news: the kids are all ok. All nine children were loaded onto another bus and sent off to school.

As for the Taco, it did its job. According to the report:
"The truck driver, a man in his 50s, was taken from the scene by helicopter as a precaution. He was initially thought to be more seriously injured because of the condition of his truck."

I'd rather the truck take the beating than the people inside.

Some of the Taco's damage looks to be from the extraction

Very possible, they potentially popped the passenger door, rolled the dash, obviously pooped the windshield, and maybe popped the roof a bit. However, with fluids present, they would have lines stretched when extracting or cutting.

Are you kidding? When I was in 6th grade on a foggy morning the bus I rode to a town 8 miles away pulled in a farm houses driveway off the 2 lane blacktop county road. After our classmate got on the bus it backed out onto the blacktop and a car ran into the side of the school bus killing the driver instantly. They loaded us on a different bus and took us to school. Some of us seen the bloody driver but no counseling was offered just went to our classes like any other day. Things were different back then though. We went to school all day on hot summer days where the cream-puff kids today get early dismissal.

Looks like a roof flap for sure. After that who knows. Another example of this truck safety factor.

Apparently, a passer-by helped the driver out of the truck. Here's a link to the article:
