I'm saying it's just an indicator lamp. If your getting some custom wing mirrors with lamps and all, you could probably do the same with the tech package mirrors or if you had to add a indicator lamp on the inside of the doors or something.

And, yes, the lack of audible signals is shortsighted. But the whole design process on the 3rd gen is about 90% done when they put it into production.

Ahh, gotcha. Actually, you know what, indicator lights somewhere more in your field of view forward would be safer. I'm old so I look regardless in the side view mirrors, and usually, at least two times. There are times though I reply on my peripheral vision to "glance" a look in the mirrors and that's when they can sneak up on you. Having an indicator light on the dash near the main console would be a warning before you even take your eyes off the road to look at the mirror. My commute is 44 miles one way and it's mostly city/highway so it's sketchy most of the trip. Once I'm up near the house in the country and it turns to two lanes no problem.

And too, I guess you could retrofit one of these housings with the glass from a newer Taco. I recently saw a guy on here that added light strips along the rockers tied into the dome light so they really puddled the area with light. I wouldn't mind that either.

Shortsighted. You mean like replacing the 2nd gen steel bumper with a plastic one, or no hood lift struts, or only offering cloth interior in 90% of Tacomas, or no offer of power seats, or throwing in K-mart low end speakers, or no console dividers, or an unsealed leaky differential, or no updated HID or LED head and fog lights, or no bed light in access cabs, etc etc etc. But hey at least we got an Atkinson cycle no low end torque Camry engine and a great 4 speed automatic transmission (4 good gears anyway). I apologize. The word shortsighted picked a scab.

Just BHLM. With a baby on the way and a wife who watches the bank account I can't afford to do the retrofit how I would want to lol

Got my grille insert from customcargrills.com Mark over there did a great job and got it to me quick. I recommend. Super easy to install, too. On this grill, there is no protrusion. Maybe even recessed a little. The decals are an idea I had. The guy who created them for me is "amirak" on Tacomaworld. This is his website: http://jupiteronearth.co/ Guy is 100% about customer service. VERY FAST and will work with you to design anything you want.
