The new frame allegedly has better rust proofing already on it.. Since the bar hasn't been set very high before this probably doesn't mean much

The frame issue just appeared yesterday on the Toyota Owners Website. "Safety Recall" is listed. When you click on it Service Campaign with remedy available is there.

Guess that explains why the service writer called yesterday and told me the frame had been ordered . Should be clear now to all dealerships

That's the Limited Service Campaign (LSC) CRC portion from the settlement agreement terms, The WEP (Warranty Enhancement Program) frame replacement component should be along shortly according to the dealer letter of June 17:

It says "Service Campaigns", and "Limited Service Campaign-H0F"; where is it called as a "Safety Recall"?

I brought my 09 in for the 60k service yesterday and the tech told me about the frame recall. Mine was checked and is getting sprayed when Toyota receives the necessary things to do it. My truck was not listed in the lawsuit as I bought it after the deadline. I asked him about it, but he didn't know any details as he said it was just announced. All I know is it depends on your Vin number.

    Extra Frame Rust
if you getg a chance to have your truck back before they undercoat it, get under it, take lots of pictures. make a file. make sure you document the condition of your frame before the CRC is applied. in mot cases they just spray over the heavy scale with out removing to bare metal (I believe this is because these frames are on huge back order and Toyota can not make them at the rate they are rotting away)
my truck had holes 1 year after CRC.

when CRC is done properly on a new/clean frame it will last the life of the vehicle

when CRC is sprayed over heavy scale the rotting and swelling continues thus causing the CRC coating to crack/open up and let more moisture/salt in causing your frame to rot away at an even faster rate due to the fact that the moisture and salt are hiding in little tiny cracks that will never dry out because there exposure to the wind and dry air is limited. According to the final ruling, it doesn't matter when you bought it. You can buy one tomorrow and it's still covered.

It appears that part of Toyota's "throwing in the towel" is to not enforce the "purchased by..." terms of the settlement agreement--at least for a while anyway. One of the appeals had protested that limitation--however if I had one bought after 12/2 2016 I'd get it in sooner rather than later...

I do not see that, is there a revised settlement agreement?

I thought this was discussed in detail that the settlement follows the truck and not the owner.

It does, however the terms and remedies provided by the Settlement Agreement only apply to class members, defined as:

The Preliminary Approval Order was recorded on December 12, 2016:

And the FAQ in the Long Form Notice states:

All that said it appears from now that Toyota the LSC-H0F campaign (the CRC portion of the settlement) is not excluding trucks purchased after 12/2/2016.

However no official notice of the WEP-ZH6 campaign (the frame replacement enhanced warranty, letter to dealers here) has yet been published--at least our local dealer has received nothing as yet--so it remains to be seen if the "prior to 12/2/2016" limitation will be applied in that campaign.

Toyota may have looked at the numbers and said " What difference at this point does it make?"¹

No vin number is required for this issue.

There is no list of VINs, and for the 11-hundredth time there is no "recall".

It is an as yet publicly unannounced Warranty Enhancement Program (WEP-ZH6) that covers all (with some exceptions that Toyota could enforce) 2005 through 2010 MY Tacomas (specifically those produced between mid-September 2004 and mid-July 2010). Toyota has indicated that they will begin notifying owners of included vehicles in July/August of 2017 (I have not yet received such notice) and that the notification process will continue to be "mailed over several months" (read the letter to dealers I linked above).
