146K I thought it was the converter when the torque convertor locked in. Got any preference for a better built convertor? Gonna have a local transmission shop take the truck on a test drive.

The more the lift the more the UCA's ball joints will Suffer from the different angle given by the lift. I saw a thread on here by a guy saying, it's like a ballerina to where she can stand on her tippy toes for a while but later on her toes will start to suffer, same rule applies to the UCA's.

Damn that sucks, did you go in the single digits on air pressure?

 

I was close, aired down to 11psi. I think when I noticed there was a tight turn I would have just spun out if the tire had more pressure. But instead it caught and the bead popped off and in my estimation that's what started my roll. Flipped at about 35mph hit both corners of the roof and ended up back on rubber.

 

I think hitting the steep embankment is what caused you to flip, not a popped bead

 

I'm not so sure, the memory isn't as fresh anymore. But I think since I smacked it on the drivers side and it was originally on the passenger side I would have just continued to slide until the bed smacked the embankment wall too if the tire hadn't grabbed. It wasn't all that steep, just slightly less than one of those roadside trenches used for stormwater runoff.

 

dude..that embankment was super steep. And your passenger side tire went up like 4' before you hit a log which at the speed you were going would have launched you. I know this as i've done this on a 4 wheeler and it did a complete barrel roll and sent me about 15' over the handle bars. I have a photo of it but it doesn't translate well. I shall post it now!

 

You're making me wish I had a dashcam, I really only remember sliding and right at the beginning of the flip when I thought "whelp this is my life now..."

 

haha yeah well..it happens really fast so i doubt you totally know what happened, when i flopped frank it was slower then yours and it seemed crazy. Yours was a full speed roll haha

Which again if you reference the first photo you can see how high your passenger side would have gone up and how low the driver side was, followed by an almost immovable object causing your truck to literally cart wheel hahaha

Im glad we can laugh about this now and nothing bad really happened from it.

 

Huh, well it certainly makes sense laid out like that. The only thing I don't get is why part of Mike's wheel is in the middle of his tire in the last image...

Idk why people think you need aftermarket uppers to get a decent alignment over 2" or 2.5". My trucks been at at least 3" for over 5 years(now off spacers and on 881s) and I've had zero issues.

 

100% guarantee your caster is less than 1 degree.

 

I'm running 881s on bilstiens and the 10 mm spacers. No problems.

 

And that causes what issue? I haven't had an issue with uneven tire wear or anything

 

Causes your steering to more easily follow ruts in the road and lightens the feeling of the steering in the cab. Feels more disconnected and generally does whatever the hell it wants more. More caster gives you better centering in the wheel well causing less chance of rubbing the cab and makes it so the truck isn't as affected by grooving and bumps in the road. It's one of the most commonly overlooked because people don't really understand what it feels like to drive one that is correctly set and wheel well centering isn't immediately noticeable from a quick glance because you can't compare both sides at the same time. Cross-caster is nice too because you can compensate for the crown of the road causing the truck to have an easier time traveling straighter without input from the wheel. But yah it won't wear out your tires, it'll just make the truck a chore to drive and may hinder you from running bigger tires.

 

Oh okay, learn something new everyday. Our roads are so acrewed up around here I just figured it being a light truck on these rutted up and washbaord roads it just did that lol either way manageable, but I could definitely see more pros from running aftermarket

 

Yeah thats cause i copied the edit profile from another photo in a hurry and it had a spot removal thing on it haha oh well.

I have like..maybe 2'' lift if that even on my truck and i can barely get 0.2º caster. Sucks. Where as on Frank i have 2.5-3º. Front wheels snap straight on Frank. No so much on Igor.

 

Well I've only driven this truck on 2.5" of lift and 3" of lift so I have no experience with it being stock. So I have nothing to go off of

 

well now you know. Buy some UCAs in the future and get the castor back. It'll be nice.

Thats my setup, minus the extended travel. Im running same bumpstops. I actually couldnt get my oem ones on when i replaced the LCA's so i left it as is. No issues so far
