Pictures of 2WD DCSB's with 5100's

After some reading, it looks like Bilstein 5100's are the way to go for a very mild lift, but I haven't seen anything related to 2WD Tacoma's, just 4WD.

Has anyone done a mild (1.5"-2") lift on their 2WD? Can it be done simply by adjusting the 5100's? Any issues with vibrations? Alignment issues? Tire wear issues? Other?

If there's a 2WD thread on this, I can't find it.

 

Sub'd. I'm curious as well since I want to add some billy 5100's as well as a spindle lift to my 2WD in the subsequent future.

 

I know, it's not really what you're asking, but I have the 5100's set on 0 on my 2WD, along with the ome 887 coils. Gave me close to a 3" lift. To me it rides the same as it did stock, maybe even a little better! Haven't had any issues with them at all.

So I have a question, related again to the 2WD. What would be the simplest (aside from a spacer) and most cost effective way to raise a 3rd gen Tacoma 1"-1.5" max while keeping the factory stance? To my eye, the 3rd gen is aesthetically level, so I'd want to go up the same amount in both the front and the rear.

 

Front 5100 top notch stock coil. Rear HS3 AAL and 5100.

Want to get rid of that bro lean? I have some Toytec 1inch blocks with new Ubolts I'll sell you. Unless you like the look

 

Just the 5100's up front. Nothing to the back.

 

lol appreciate it man. These pictures are less then an hour after I got the 5100's put in. Since then they have settled so it's maybe a half inch higher up front.

 

hey @dot_tom, can you please dumb this down for me, I'm not mechanically inclined at all. I've been reading past 1year of suspension related comments w/o understanding a thing about all the abbreviations and numbers they talk about. Is 5100 a type of shocks or some height setting? I have a 2WD Sport too and I'm interested in a 1" to 1.5" lift like OP to fit 275/R17's for my next set of tires. (already did the CMC). Thanks!

 

i've been eyeing your 4runner build on other forum, I keep having trouble with my tacoma order that it keeps getting pushed back, so i am thinking of a 4runner after driving my brother 2010 trail edition.

 

Bilstein 5100 (brand / model) the front struts are adjustable using factory springs from 0" -2.5" lift. The rear shocks do not lift, that is why most use an add a leaf to add to factory leaf springs, a block or replacement leaf springs. Marie at @HeadStrong Off-Road can set you up with what you need.

Does it stress any of the drive-train or suspension components (axles, CV joints, ball joints, driveshaft, etc.) by raising the truck an inch or two? It's pretty common for issues to arise when the factory suspension geometry is changed, such as increased wear on ball joints, tie-rod ends, CV joints, etc. Anyone finding this to be the case with a very mild lift using 5100's?

 

Like the way it sits , what did you use ??? Bilsteins what notch or coil ?

 

Oh and what rims and tires ?... theyre methods 17x8.5 ? And 4 bs ? What tires ? And also op wanted ro see a long bed ......

 

The 5100 shock has a 1.75"' setting that would work great for you. I did not do CMC. Had no need for it but at least you won't have to worry about it.

I'd say 2.5" in the front and ~2.5" in the rear.

Oh yea it's a tough choice. 2018 Tacoma OR will come in Cement. I might be giving the 4R to the wife and trade my '16 Taco for a Cement '18 Taco OR
If you carry more than 2 people often, get a 4Runner. If its just you and one other person, the Taco is perfect. Can't go wrong with either one. I actually like the Taco's V6. The 4Runner's V6 is good as well. Basically comes down to a choice of hauling people, or hauling stuff?

 

The only thing to deters me about the forerunner is the inside looks dated
