    Thats entirely true too, as much as you can tell a difference from stock to a 500~ dollar system, you can tell a diff in that from a 3g system. To many people, enough is enough, to others, you upgrade bits and pieces then after years of that you just go all in.

    I did mine for under 600 bucks. Alpine amp, components in front and coaxial in rear with a Polk sub. did dynamat in doors and while its kinda unbalanced having too much high and not enough mid, bass is good and its 100x better than stock.

    Hybrid audio clarus components for the front stage. This is my second set, but I believe the first is still running strong. I was stupid and sold the truck with them still in. I've run these since they came out circa 08 or 09. Before that I had a pair or two of focals which I thought sounded great until I heard better stuff. They actual did sound pretty dang good for the money but there is better out there for sure. For woofers I have 2 Audison 10's. Between both Audison amps about 1600 watts. Lastly a bit 10d digital processor. This truck has my "buy once cry once" system.

    For sure, I understand that. I would recommend a decent front stage and amp first if you don't mind the factory head unit. It will makes the biggest difference
    I typically just upgrade front stage and skip rear doors all together. Let's you spend more on the speakers or buy an amp to power them which any caliber of speaker benefits from.

    I went cheap in this set just to get rid of the crap stock speakers. Im not really happy with it but its better than stock. Most of that 600 was the amp. My money was better spent on suspension parts.

    Thanks for the recommendation! My bigger concern is finding a good shop that will treat my vehicle as their own. Yelp is a scary place when it comes to audio installation shops. Lots of contradicting reviews for most places.

    That's not saying much, compared to the stock system tho. Stock is Dogeshit, lol.

    Definitely underwhelmed by the stock system. I don't know if I want (or need) to swap out the head unit. Lots of folks have improved their systems just by swapping out the tweeters and/or door speakers.

    With my second gen I found that once I switched the head unit I was happy. The Pioneer unit I have puts out more power so the speakers are louder which was my chief complaint.

    With the 3rd Gen, I've heard great success stories with a line converter, 4 channel amp, and new speakers. Haven't done it myself yet, but am planning to in the future + sub.

    Exactly what I did. I used a 300w class d alpine amp. If you go this route pick up a set of deck plugs, and some speedwire. I left the factory wiring harness alone, plugged in a plug with pig tails to their factory harness then connected the power strait through to a new plug with pigtails going into the factory deck and hooked up an accessory switch wire to the speedwire. I hooked up the line converters to the deck plug and speedwires to the plug connected to the factory harness speaker wire. Soldered all those connections. Ran the rca's and speedwire to the amp. I did it this way just In case I decided I wanted to trade for a manual truck I could pull my harness and amp out and easily hook the harness back to the deck.

    Understandable that you can't make it, but keep an eye out for the next wheeling trip. Probably going to be Hidden Falls on Oct 7 and maybe BMRA again on Oct 28.

    BMRA tomorrow. I think we've decided that we'll meet at Buc-ee's in Terrell around 9am, but leaving no later than 9:30. I think we've all got CB and or 2 way radios. Hopefully, we'll be ok with the gas situation. Maybe @Txexplorer can give us an update on the frenzy in East TX.

    Who's going:
    @Suprajim54 Yes
    @Tundra2Play Yes
    @Silverspool Yes
    @Egnaro Yes
    @Tristanmarco Yes
    @NEWBIETACO Yes
    @Steawy27 Yes
    @Txexplorer Yes - meeting us at BMRA

    @rpkole ???

    @Silverspool and I are bringing some hot dogs & hamburgers to make some lunch Sat & Sun. @Tristanmarco was bringing breakfast stuff. @Egnaro some chips/sides. Anyone else can pitch in with something else if you'd like. I do plan on staying most of the day on Sunday, probably leaving late afternoon/early evening. Many of you have my cell number, but PM me if you don't. See you guys in the morning!
