Honestly I'd worry more about the compressor/locker/battery setup over COG. It's a big project that all rely on each other, would be a shame to run the trails without an air supply or front locker.

Meh, there are some pretty tippy places in Utah that have you off camber leaning over the edge of a cliff. Not likely to flop but the piece of mind that you are not more top heavy than the rig in front is nice. If it were me I wouldn't worry too much about about the dual battery and alternator if you are on a time crunch. I'm still on a single battery with no issues. Just make sure that you have a battery designed for being drained and charged, regular auto batteries don't like that.

You have never wheeled in a truck with a tent up as high as his...

    It can be terrifying.

    No regrets lowering mine

    Thanks, Robert!

    This.

As awesome as this height is for camping, it's a shitty deal for wheeling. Like Ryan was saying, it's a piece of mind issue as well as a CG improvement. I'm already geeked out enough as it is with off-camber stuff, so it'll be nice not to have that in the back of my mind as much. And after being on some shelf roads in the mountains with some fairly tippy switchbacks, I knew it had to be done.

It isn't going to be super low, but pulling it down 8" or so will be a huge improvement for sure. My buddy and I should be able to cut it down, weld it back up, and paint it in a weekend.

Why do you think I don't have a rtt (aside from the fact that I can't afford one) because I love a low cog and will always try to keep mine as low as possible. But I also love getting as off camber as I can even if it's not necessary.

I was mostly just going by the fact that a bunch of my local second gen buddies have done Moab with an rtt on their cap which is high as fuck. Though I don't know what trails they did out there.

Trails make a difference, so does driving style.

I mean i rocked a RTT pretty high for years. Slow off camber stuff..was okay. What made me go "yeah okay, this isn't gonna work" was me wanting to drive around like i robbed the nearest bank. Damn near flipped it (again, not the first time when i did ha) and realized my tent needed to come down.

    Been great ever since.

The issue for me isn't so much my issue with being off-camber. It's more about where I'm off-camber.

If I was on a trail in the trees on flat ground and an obstacle gets me tippy, I can deal with that. It's more when I'm on the side of a mountain and this could potentially happen...

I got a few things for myself...

    IMG_4820.jpg

They're relatively cheap, but these look really well built! I'm not a bro bar fan, and I think I'd hate my life with a white hood with one of those things. Hopefully these will help augment the shitty stock headlights. Gonna have the switch live next to the clutch cancel switch so I can get to it easily.
    Thanks, Rebecca!

It's getting there! Still a ton of stuff to do. Gonna cut down my bed rack quite a bit for starters!

    :sawzall:
Dude, I know those feels. My job is killing my soul. I'm already looking for something else.

I'll make the time, Ray. Sorry it's gotten the back burner treatment. I really want to finish the CAD and then see those bad boys in person!
