    AH HA. Gotcha. Two of the three bolts that attach the bar to the truck take two washers, the ones circled in red:

    Looks like I have to remove the two existing bolts, and then replace them with the longer bolts I'm buying. So the lock washer would go right there on the "front" sort of speak, right?! Or in the "back"?!

    Ok so when you hold the bolt in your hand, this little guy goes on first:upload_2017-8-31_13-49-1.jpg

    Then:

    Then you screw it all in. So like the flat washer is whats on the "inside" touching the sheet metal. Then the bolt "crushes" the lock washer between the bolt head and the flat washer.

    Actually it's a good idea. Those two days get the kids to start getting used to the schedule. In my experience, long first weeks back, kill every one, including the teachers. Also the first few days of the school year are "wasted" on getting settled in.
