I spoke to JML about a system in my Tacoma....the price made my head spin. However you do get what you pay for, the work done there is top notch.

I ended up just sourcing my own equipment and installing it myself. With less than $1500 all in and a fair amount of sweat equity.

I used the ********* subwoofer enclosure and have been happy with it. I am going to have Mr. Marv build a replacement eventually, but the current setup exceeds most people's audio needs, and the cost is very reasonable.

I know, I almost don't want to go up there, because I feel like I'd be wasting their time. I'm sure they probably get that a lot. It's hard to find any prices at all from them, of people who have had stuff done. With the speakers and stuff I've been looking at, I wouldn't be surprised if the quote was $5k, or even more. They do excellent work though, their awards speak for themselves.

There is a couple other shops I was looking at, one in High Ridge( The Car Audio Shop), and one in Maryland Heights(Audio Ace), that both have great reviews and a great BBB score. They are high end too, but supposed to be quite a bit cheaper then JML.

I'm still wrapping my head around all the different setups, etc. I think if I'm going to spend the money, I'm going to go ahead and have it sound dampened really well, I've read that that makes a huge difference. I'm also looking at an active system, with processors etc. I know that's a bunch more as well.

My biggest issue with doing it myself.

    1. If I do spend a decent amount on equipment, I want it done right. I may as well pay more and know it's right. Especially if I get processors etc, I want it set up professionally.

    2. And this is the biggest reason, I work 7 days in a row at a time, shift work and 10-12 hour days a lot. I don't really have time to rip apart my truck, and do all this. Plus it's my only Vehicle.

I'm not positive what I'm going to do yet, it will be next year if I do have one of those high end shops do it, maybe this fall if I just put some 3-ways in and a sub with Amps.

@VangaSTL doesn't your work have an office down in Houston? Are they still dry?

If my father's house stays dry the next few days I'm going to head down in a few weeks with my truck and help with the cleanup. If I do head down I'm going to try and load the bed and back of the cab with items to donate. Would anyone be willing to pitch in if I do this?

Good to know! .... It's still up in the air at this point.
I can only go down if my Dad's house stays dry. Otherwise I'd just be down there causing more issues and taking a bed with all the displaced people. Also depends if work will approve moving my requested vacation days up. But for this, i Doubt that they'd right out deny me.

Yep, I've been watching the security cameras pretty closely the last couple days, They are in Katy, TX so they didn't get hit nearly as hard as the south and west. I'll also make a costco run if you decide to go down there.

My boss said he'd take a look at days and see if i can have a chance to go down. Will be bs if they dont. No one else is asking off during that time.

Glad to hear they stayed dry. My dads house and work is fine too, thankfully.

Brother in law lost everything they didn't take with them to Austin when they evacuated. People have been complaining about this problem for years stating that the current arrangement is woefully outdated.

That's a shame. I'm glad they did evacuate. They have their family and that's what matters most.

The past few years even have been tough on Houston. There's been major flooding just about every time I've been down there. Hell there's issues here in Missouri with the Meramec. These last 2 years then 4 more floods in the last 30ish years.
Not much is done to help it either.

Leaning more towards the 16th if others are cool with it. Of course I can open the shop on the 9th as well if needed. Will need some help getting the spring compressor mounted and then I expect we will start pulling allot of front coilovers to fine tune the pre-load adjustment and do spring swaps.

This brings up a question. My OR has stock 16". It's time for new tires so I'm going to go ahead and do new wheels too. I'm on the fence about staying with 16" or going up to 17". What are you all running?
