Taco's one thing, loss of house and home is another. Sad to watch. More importantly, hope they are all safe and someday will recover from the devestation. Horrific to say the least.

If they made this like a big bag you drove into and then pulled up around your vehicle and tightened a draw string and then put a tarp over the top it would work awesome. It would have to be some some heavy duty plastic but it could work.

If you really think parking in the garage would have done anything.

Whatever water level at at the front of the door is going to be inside the door and the house.

I'm sure the least of their concerns is the truck. When that/those nice houses are also destroyed.

With flooding, it's either all or nothing. If it's flooding I want my car to be completely submerged so there is no doubt that insurance will total it.

I have read that over a million vehicles may have been destroyed or seriously damaged by Harvey. Our insurance premiums will be going up in the next 6 months, I'm afraid. There'll also be a lot of cars/trucks which are a year or two old, with minimal miles, going to auction for about 25 cents on the dollar of book value, and salvage titles.

Ugh. I'm so sorry, man. It looks like at that point the engine was above the water line.

Just about anywhere could be a flood zone. I was living in east San Diego County in the late 70s, and the creek I was living near reached flood stage and got within 4" of the door. In New Mexico a single monsoon storm often floods each year, but that hurricane was beyond belief. I sent some cash, but it's a drop in the bucket, so to speak.

Insurance. For all the money I have given these insurance companies over the years, I could own a fleet of brand new Tacomas.

It would just be as easy to heed the warning to evacuate and drive north several hundred miles.
