It was 80 - 85° when I left the city around 11am. 95° in Oakland. It's about 1 million° in San Ramon right now.

My truck said 111 in south San Jose as I pulled into the garage.

How I'm going to work on my truck this weekend I don't know.

Was 103° when I left for work. Had to bring the pup in and lock him up in the garage with 2 fans on him lol (he's still not allowed in the house since he chews everything despite having 5 unchewable chew toys). Also, left the AC on and the door to the garage open because the wife said she was coming home. Fun fact, now she's not, so I left the AC on all fuckin night. Sigh.

It sounds like you may have saved your pups life by leaving the AC on in the house and door to the garage open.

Leaving a dog in a sealed garage in this heat is like a death sentence. Garages, most of them, are usually uninsulated and will get hotter than your home. They become ovens and death chambers for dogs in this kinda heat.

    Yep!

I felt bad leaving my dogs inside the house even with multiple fans on them. Left work a couple hours early so I could get home and turn on the portable ac thing.

They are both panting but it's only 84 in here. Which effin sucks by the way.

I partly understand leaving the dog outside though. My oldest one (11 year old boxer/lab) absolutely destroyed my apartment when he was a pup. Shredded a big futon. Shredded and flipped over a leather couch. Shredded plants and spread dirt everywhere. Dug up carpet everywhere. Total nightmare. But best dog ever. Too bad he's getting so old.

If Billys offer 2.5" of lift that's fine. My preload spacer (2.5" lift spacer) does basically that same thing. If will be a stiffer ride though (insert that's what she said joke here). You will still have a little ass high rake, but nothing more than stock, in fact a little less.

Coilover is a term for a strut and spring that are one unit, like kings or icons. I was just laying out options for the front - spacer on top of the strut, preload spacer, 5100s, or coilover

Thanks, I love the red too.

They're right, you'll either need to cut your exhaust off inside of the leaf spring (because the new leaf will hit it) or get that exhaust bracket which pushes the exhaust down below the spring.

Unfortunately you'll have to find someone more knowledgeable about the front than me. The different springs will give you different amounts of lift and stiffness. for example, if your front end is weighed down by a plate bumper, winch, skid plates, and a fat ass, you'll want a stiffer spring to accommodate the weight.

You could probably get away with just the 5100s on their max lift, but as stated before, it will be a rougher ride than if you put some quality springs on there.

Little this. Little that 4x4 Swap’d PreRunner

Technically speaking, the stock suspension is coilover too. Simply put, it refers to the idea that the coil, is mounted over the strut an compressed. In conjunction with an upper control arm, which strut setups don't have.

But that's getting technical lol :anonymous: @jberry813 did a thread about the technicality that we don't have 'struts'

Do you recommend adding a preload spacer along with the 5100s for a smoother (and more horizontal?) ride? What would you recommend I go with for a smooth, but moderately priced ride? Assuming I go with the OME Dakars (or ???) and 5100s, what front coils/springs should I go with? I appreciate your advice!

I don't know the 5100 settings, but id consider a top spacer (not a preload spacer, one that goes on top of the strut/coil) in combination with one of the 5100 lift settings. Like use the 1.5" 5100 setting (assuming there is one) and a 1.5" lift spacer on top of the strut/coil

It'll be a little stiffer (which I like, because before my preload spacers, if I went over a speed bump unevenly, I'd sway for days. But with the preload spacers, it feels more like a truck on leaf springs), but not as stuff as mine

And I don't think you can use a preload spacer with 5100s, because using the different settings on the 5100 for lift is just like adding a preload spacer, it's taking up spring room and that makes the spring stiffer, so you sit higher

Alright guys, the AC in my car took a shit. Anyone know of any places to get it fixed or any of you had any luck with those DIY kits?

Really depends on what went wrong. Is it just a leak that needs to be fixed? Or did the compressor lock up?

probably got a little leak somewhere. Fix the leak, charge it. Might be fine after that

Probably have to use one of those charge kits with the UV dye to locate the leak huh

The garage is a cooler place at my house. Faces east, and there is another floor above. Plus concrete slab. No sun hits it after noon.

Maybe, maybe not. Look over all your hoses and between the compressor and the pulley. If you see any kind of green sheen (you'll have to look hard/closely), there you go. I hardly ever use the leak dye at work. Give it a good visual. Confirm its low on freon. Inspect for leak. If not obvious leak, replace the service fitting shrader and recheck for proper op
